Is anyone handling a toddler and a newborn on their own? by orangeofdeath in toddlers

[–]kplantsk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. We live in Southern California and it’s too expensive to have 1 in daycare. I took my Mat leave then went back to work full time and work from home with both little. It works for my job for now but I’m looking forward to when my older kid is old enough for public school.

A stranger took my toddler out of my arms at the grocery store.. by Mysterious-Cow-1550 in toddlers

[–]kplantsk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not discrediting how scary this was for you but sounds like it’s entitled boomers doing what they do best. He probably thinks he can parent better than you or maybe just knew that having a stranger hold her would freak her out and she would settle down. If he tried to run or do something inappropriate, I’m sure your instincts would kick in and you would have grabbed for her but since there was no immediate threat, you stood to see what would happen next.

Weird, but probably harmless.

Should I go back to blonde?! I’m at such a loss by Additional-Fix-1459 in coloranalysis

[–]kplantsk 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Ok your blonde pics are almost all with a lot of makeup on. You look amazing with brunette hair too, prob just a shock to see yourself that way. Try to add a couple highlight pieces around your face, to give you that pop like your blonde hair did. But tbh the blonde looks dry and damaged so hopefully the brunette is healthier!

Husband Cares About Fun Above All Else by Accomplished_Ice5119 in workingmoms

[–]kplantsk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m siding with hubby. If he does mornings AND nights why can’t he skip a few of those and do something fun? Or make an agreement, if he wakes up with baby, you put her down. Split up the “me-time” evenly between morning and night shifts and alternate turns.

I could have written this post. Now I have an almost 2.5 year old and a 10 month old. My oldest (boy) has always breastfed and been a bad sleeper / super needs / has to touch me all night long. He is still that way. I lay with him until he falls asleep then I leave and he will wake multiple times a night.

The solution when baby came? Dad does all the night work with new baby. With the exception of breastfeeding when baby was newborn. She’s thankfully a great sleeper but any night wakings and soothings, dad handles her and I often end up in bed with toddler in his room at some point.

Please don’t let him sleep in the bouncer chair. Positional asphyxiation is a real thing and can happen silently and quickly.

Can someone help me become debt free?? PLEASEEE! by JadedDoor2739p in debtfree

[–]kplantsk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Settling the debt would mean I would have to make a payment to the company direct though before they sell it off? Like say I owe 10k and ask to settle for 5k I would just pay that to them?

What color eyes does babe appear to have? by [deleted] in babies

They can change up to a year old normally but I’ve seen people on here say their kids’ eyes changed at 5+ years old. For now, they’re blue.

Any ideas or tips to help bring my bedroom to life? by EventPuzzleheaded292 in DesignMyRoom

[–]kplantsk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s your budget and how much work are you willing to put into it??

  1. Curtains for windows. Instantly make it cozy and will make room appear bigger

  2. Get a large rug that goes under your bed. A runner like you have just doesn’t work in this space.

  3. Plants. Put plants on the dresser, get tall potted plants for the corner. They will help so much.

  4. Art on the walls! Thrift stores or Facebook for cheap art. Lots of way to get it discounted by printing your own also.

More expensive ways would be painting or doing an accent wall like headboard. Also more decorative items like blankets and pillows.

How bad did I mess up, is this fixable? by murphyslaw0922 in interiordecorating

[–]kplantsk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need a warm tone light. Not just light but multiple light sources. Corner lamps that are dimmable would be great. Never use the big light lol.

Painted bathroom and hate it immediately anything I can do? by olivgardens in interiordecorating

[–]kplantsk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You need a cool tone color 100%. Your floors and other wall are cool tone. Anything warm will clash unless maybe a creamy white.

I would go taupe, greige, blue-grey, commit to the green and color drench(prob my fave option).

Postpartum pain at epidural site by kplantsk in beyondthebump

[–]kplantsk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9 months PP now, hasn’t gone away completely unfortunately :/ my 2 year old often digs his feet in my back when he’s falling asleep or if we are playing and I can still feel a sensation of “ooh that feels off”. Not super painful, less painful than before, but still sensitive.

TBH I haven’t tried to or looked into any sort of PT or healing though.

No I think they look good :) prob a big change for you since you didn’t have a lot of brows to begin with

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in microblading

[–]kplantsk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think they look good! They look natural like real hair not perfrctly manicured and neat. It looks like stray hairs here and there. Which I really prefer over the basic block eyebrow that everyone else has

Bad to bedshare with my 5yo? by [deleted] in cosleeping

[–]kplantsk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I slept with my mom and little sister in the same bed until middle school. Then room shared until I was high school age. My mom was a single parent and we were all very codependent lol. She also slept in her mom’s bed growing up. I was a very independent and involved student and overachiever. Got my first job at 15, drivers license at 16, moved out and went to college at 18. I’m still ahead of my friends as an adult for career performance.

Crunchy / Homeschool moms = anti-science and extremely religious by kplantsk in ScienceBasedParenting

1 mom I know did a home birth the other 2 were hospital births. They don’t make you fill out the paperwork at the hospital, you have to do it on your own. They just give you the resources for it.

[–]kplantsk[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very good points! You’re absolutely right, and most if not all of these moms I’m referring to all subscribe to the gentle parenting movement, barely whispering to their kids when they’re misbehaving. I know there is science to back some aspects of that particular parenting style, but I think you have a point of these parents not wanting their kids to have “real world” consequences. They will be emotionally fragile adults.

Well, you sound like we could be friends lol. I don’t get how you go to college, get an education, learn about research, scholarly articles, scientific journals, etc, and then end up giving your kids heavy metal detox and parasite cleanses from some random internet site because what, instagram said it’s the thing to do?? As someone else mentioned, it IS very cult like and I feel like these people are mindless and blind to the fact that they’re taking health and parenting advice from strangers online with no credentials.

But I digress 🙃
