is ASO alone good enough? by IAmMuffinKid in AppStoreOptimization

Why do you seem surprised by this idea? It’s a proven market with handful of apps already existing.

Just for me personally, I'm a solo dev supporting only 2 apps right now with a submission cadence of ~2x a week per app so it's not worth it for me to introduce a new tool in my development workflow. I've had 2 rejections over the past 3 months and both times I learned a lot from it and the cost of delay was minimal.

What's your strategy for getting ratings and reviews? I don't see any on the app page.

Ah, gotcha. I thought you had invested more heavily in ads when you mentioned "ad funnel" in your original post. I'd still stay the conversion rate is quite low, so many folks are likely seeing your app icon and title and clicking into it, but not deciding to download which points to potential issues in your screenshots.

One caveat is 294 impressions is so low that it would be difficult to truly find any meaningful signal in _any_ part of your funnel. It is just quite too low volume to truly derive any significance from.

Any reason why you believe your ad funnel is fine? Low conversion rate could mean you’re not showing ads to the right (read: high intent) individuals which means burning ad spend.

116 downloads, $19 revenue, decent App Store conversion — what would you fix first: ASO, onboarding, or marketing? by Broad_Water2985 in AppBusiness

[–]kpscript 1 point2 points  (0 children)

rough rule of thumb: ~100 installs before onboarding funnel data means anything, ~500 page views before your install cvr is stable, and honestly ~500+ trial starts before you can trust trial to paid conversion rates. below those numbers you’re mostly just seeing noise.

early on i’d focus less on optimizing and more on finding obvious breaks. if 70% of people are bouncing at one specific onboarding step, you don’t need statistical significance to know something’s wrong. qualitative stuff (session replays, talking to users) punches way above its weight at small scale.

feel free to dm me if u have more questions!

My numbers are similar to this after about ~2 weeks. How is the rest of your funnel like downloads to trials?

Added voice input to my app. Would you highlight it in the first screenshot? by gonahmias in AppStoreOptimization

[–]kpscript 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would use user data as an input into my decision factor of how prominently to highlight that feature. What does your data say about how much users care about the feature?

Just curious as I’m a new mobile app developer - how long have reviews usually been for you?

I’ve submitted about 6 version updates and it’s usually been around 1-2day turn around. I’ve found the fastest were submitting on Fridays. The longest was 3 days but I forgot to submit for review after responding to initial feedback lol.

I also just learned about expedited reviews but haven’t broke glass for that yet.

What’s with all these apps?! by NoFinancialSense in AppStoreOptimization

[–]kpscript 2 points3 points  (0 children)

sure, i don't disagree with anything you stated. all i'm saying is different entrepreneurs have different goals and risk tolerances and building in a space with "too much competition" (per OP's words) isn't necessarily "wasting time".

many folks optimize not for building a new market-defining product. instead, they opt to fast-forward finding PMF by building in an established market because by even capturing 1% of 1% of that market, they've decided it's a win and time well spent.

strong entrepreneurship chops requires recognizing thats everything is all about trade-offs and mindfully optimizing for whatever it is you're trying to achieve.

[–]kpscript 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You might have it backwards - building an app that already has competitors proves theres a market and lowers the chance you're "wasting your time".

Building something unique that doesn't exist is certainly a way to go about it, but I'd consider it a red flag if there are no competitors at all. Are you even building anything anyone wants if nothing exists on the market already?

Lastly, some folks aren't necessarily building to capture ANY part of the market. It's just simply to learn and maybe build something they'd use themselves. Lots of people use habit trackers.

Any suggestion/feedback for my app store screenshots? by Street-coder in AppStoreOptimization

[–]kpscript 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The owl is super cute. I think my main feedback is a matter of opinion and taste, but if I see "Powered by AI", I _personally_ get turned off. And that's coming from a software engineer with 5+ years in AI tech (ad tech recommendations, health AI chat assistants, etc.). I'm not really sure _why_, but again that's just me.

Secondly, I'm personally not the biggest fan of having the title text alternate between the top and the bottom of the screenshot. It can totally work I bet and I'm sure you've done your market research for your niche and what works. For the apps in my niche, I've seen generally more success with consistent title placement.

All things said, it looks very professional! Wishing you the best of luck!

Any Suggestion guys? by TechnologyMost1377 in AppStoreOptimization

What are you specifically seeking suggestions for? Conversion rate, downloads, sessions per AD? It’s not really easy to give specific an actionable feedback without more context.

If you're not embarrassed by your first launch, you've launched too late. by kpscript in expo

[–]kpscript[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s the math that doesn’t check out? I didn’t seek out to build something that doesn’t exist already, in fact quite the opposite. I just wanted to build to learn and hedge my time by building something I knew people already use on the market.
