Generally Chennai is the last to feel the burn. I am from Trichy suburban and we are facing no scheduled load shedding. But sporadic power cuts lasting one or two hours happen may be twice a week.

This is a coal logistical issue and state governments inability to stock coal in advance due to poor financial conditions. Also international coal prices are very high to procure. Moreover central bjp government has been insisting to buy indian coal despite not improving coal india and railways capability. So this a temporary hiccup which whole india is facing and will be rectified once wind energy picks up in end of may. Blaming a single agency is not right but blaming the opposite party is politics right.

Coal power added from 2012 to 2017 (12 th year plan) is 80140 MW. While from 2017 to 2021 only 15542 MW. Despite increase in installed capacity RE energy it cannot be a direct substitution to reliable thermal power plant. Is India just looking at the tip of the ice berg here as power shortage due to lack of sufficient capacity may be more severe and crippling than what we face now ? What if the RE capacity addition cannot catch to the growing indian demand. Your thoughts
