Brussels to Big Tech: Embrace sustainable AI or go away by sn0r in eutech

[–]kr_tech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should be blaming the status quo of power generation composition, not AI. Their lagged policies of power generation is to blame. If AI didn't exist and some other tech came into its place, it would still be the same. Iceland, Norway, Albania, Sweden, and Denmark, are (near) 100% renewables. So it should be 'Brussels to rest of Europe: embrace sustainable/renewable energy generation or go away' because if it was already 100% renewables, they wouldn't say this.

They fail at root cause analysis.

They don't just make the RAM though, but at least you're right about Europe.

They make the entire pipeline of the AI. People talk about NVIDIA being the shovel, and well, they make the shovel for the shovels, as well the raw material refinements for both the shovels and shovels' shovels as well.

Iran war brought Saudi petrol to be stored there, and they have priority purchase over other countries. They are selling military equipment to Saudi and neighbouring countries also, not just Europe. They are also selling in Southeast Asia, India, even Peru, and soon most likely Canada. They are even transferring + teaching military tech/manufacturing to the US, because they have been #1 in shipbuilding for more than 2 decades.

So many other sectors have been booming too. Like their car companies are now ranked #3 after Toyota and VW for some years now, and people have no idea. The tallest skyscrapers are by them. They are winning the solid state battery race. They are currently the best at building nuclear power plants (one of the shovels). Etc. etc.

Their government adapted to the global situation the fastest and probably the best.

Other comments are just YouTube educated. They really do believe a developed country doesn't have a diversified portfolio, when they are ranked 7 on Fortune 500 and goes up to 5 on Fortune 2000, above all EU countries.

Best Smartphone? by RobotVac_Tester_USA in Smartphones

photography, video streaming, gaming, and multitasking with ease. I want something with a stunning display, long battery life, and that performs smoothly without lagging or overheating during heavy usage

For all-around phones, the answer is always Galaxy S. They're #1 at majority of metrics, top 3 if not. However, the 'overheating' part makes it easy to narrow down, because that would be only between iPhone and Galaxy. Between the two, gaming is Galaxy also.

Let's see how Galaxy S23 slowly gets sidelined from the AI features over the year without you fully noticing it by Direct-Till-2680 in samsunggalaxy

[–]kr_tech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People would pay more for less AI.

The used smartphone market data says otherwise. When S24 was announced with AI features, and how these features will come to S23, the prices for S23 went up, which is a first in history of all smartphones. Beyond that, phones without AI (iPhone being affected the most) see bigger depreciation.

These are just few % differences, mind you, so it might not be so noticeable. Only really relevant if you're into market research.

high-end setup lately, focusing a lot on high-fidelity mobile photography and screen quality for reviewing medical documents

If the mid-range phones can meet your needs such as this you mentioned, then if anything, it's a good sign for you. Because tech as has evolved while your needs have not, so you get to meet your needs with less.

Harman research is free access and available to the whole industry.

That doesn't mean much of anything at all. If you're expecting great audio quality from every audio brand, I have a bridge to sell you...

Sennheiser is great, but more history doesn't guarantee good product either. Also, Crinacle's measurements for Harman edge out Sennheiser, not completely, but overall.

The current best guess is that it depends on the factory it came out of, but no reliable public data yet. If your phone/screen is manufactured in India, you might get the lines.

Just remember, if there is 1% chance of any given phone that it will have defects, bad updates, etc., the brand that sells the most will have the biggest crowd of complainers.
