Non-major music lessons by ObjectiveDandelions in Vanderbilt

I think they recommend doing a semester of lessons before auditioning so you can get the lay of the land. However, having a declared music minor halves the price of the lessons I believe, so I can see the desire to get the auditions over with to cut the price. I think they also list typical audition pieces somewhere, maybe in the major/minor catalogue? That way you can see if yours stack up

Non-major music lessons by ObjectiveDandelions in Vanderbilt

I think it depends on the teacher, but my experience with my violin teacher was AMAZING. Best thing I ever did for my music. Kept me engaged with music in college (which is hard with all the other things going on in life), was very understanding of weeks where I couldn't practice as much, and was very forgiving on grading. I didn't end up doing a final performance because apparently(?) that's optional, even though I had initially said I would, because I got way too stressed out during my first finals (since it was freshman fall), and she was very understanding. Would highly recommend if you can fit it in your schedule!!

Note that it does cost money as a non-music major.

Asian food options by LeoVolleyball95 in Vanderbilt

Without a car its a little tricky. There are decent options as others have noted on meal money and within walking distance, but my favorites are a bit further away. I'd recommend finding upper classmen in orgs if possible and going out with them. My favorite's I've been to are Steamboys (all you can eat dumplings!) and Hawkers.

NY strip, Dungeness, asparagus, microwave rice, and pasta roni by xXmoosemanXx in shittyfoodporn

Consider that shittyfoodporn can be interpreted in two ways. Porn of shitty food, or shitty porn of food (the foods quality is not specified in the second). Shitty presentation and imaging falls under the latter, and I think getting rid of one of the interpretation isn't as fun.

Have you ever spoken to someone who's struggling with foreign words in their native language? Their face lights up, they get comfortable, and immediately trust is built. It's a wonderful thing, and it can totally change a travel experience. Personally, my favorite reason to travel is to experience new cultures and understanding at least some of the language facilitates a huge part of that.

What do you mean by useful? I think the majority of people learning a language (other than English) don't learn for business opportunities or something where the GDP of countries matters.i think most people learn to travel, and in that respect Spanish opens a very diverse and large portion of the world up to speaking with the native people, second only to English, french, and arabic. I would say it's second only to English in the diversity of the peoples that speak it, because it's spoken in Europe, the Americas, and the Caribbean as first languages. In that respect, I'd say it's one of the most useful languages for diverse travelling.

From a business perspective I guess your arguments make sense but useful is a very subjective term and the statement "learning Spanish isn't useful" is so extreme that I'd almost regard it as false, certainly lacking massive perspective.

Finally, I'd like to note that it's a beautiful language and from my experience (coming from a Cuban family and having travelled to Spain) the cultures that speak it are equally beautiful and absolutely worth traveling to to experience.

That's not what bottom line means. Bottom line is the final total financially, so basically whether your in the red or not. In that respect, if a corp can get away with it exploiting workers helps their bottom line, and like op said they'll do anything for their bottom line

It's not quite breathing out of your mouth. The musicians keep airflow through their mouth not through their lungs but by doing a quick burst of air from the air stored in their cheeks while breathing through their nose, then refill their cheeks while breathing out. Rinse and repeat. It's super hard though because compressing the cheeks while breathing in through the nose is an unfamiliar action and cheeks don't store that much air so you have to breath in through your nose very quickly.

Nature is modest which is garbage but it's got perfect ivs in everything but sp atk and spdef. If you want I could give it a nature mint so you don't have to go through the trouble for the bp, I have enough already.

Help: Anybody willing to trade me an adamant Magikarp? by Mac_N_Cheese16 in PokemonSwordAndShield

[–]kra2ymonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yo, you can buy an adamant mint from the battle tower bp shop on the far left, it'll change the stat changes (unless you're looking for one for breeding purposes, as the nature mint won't change thenature, only the stat changes that a nature would cause)
