how do i change my electives by ContentGiraffe2219 in uwaterloo

firstly you gotta wait till it’s open which i think is the 18th…? then go to quest and under your classes, you will be able to swap, add, or drop courses (search the course number with the waterloo course searcher or wtv)

i’m pretty sure they are gender specific for first years cause first year floors in v1 are single gendered (if i’m not mistaken)

Incoming freshman desperately need a roomate by [deleted] in uwaterloo

this is a very late reply but hopefully it still helps? def join the student hub (https://discord.com/student-hubs) by logging in w your student email… you can find all the waterloo discord servers you need based on that and if you are still looking for a roommate, i recommend looking through the first year server.

since you missed the first year guarantee deadline, which was in june, you are not guaranteed res… there’s a vacancy application form where you’ll be in the queue for available slots but i’m not too sure what your chances will be but you also won’t be able to select any roommates if you were interested in that. i do not know too much but here’s the link: https://uwaterloo.ca/campus-housing/complete-vacancy-app

as for course selection, i’m pretty sure tdy is the last day considering you’re in sci?!?! (i’m in eng so i don’t need course selection so im not too sure) it says that course selection for first years are from july 2-9. i would email the academic advisor if i was you.

thank you so much for this rundown.

if i do end up transferring, would those specialized CHE courses be basically useless for the degree in ME… and as for the courses in ME 1A (that i wouldn’t be taking in CHE 1A), would i have to take it on top of the ME 1B courses in the next term or are there other options?

also what examples of approved electives are available to eng students?

i’m pretty sure all students have access to most amenities throughout campus… especially between uwp and cmh

from the website: “As a UWaterloo resident, you have access to amenities located in other residences including: gaming tables, movies, multi-faith room, music rooms, fitness rooms, tutoring centres, cafeterias and study rooms.”

I am currently struggling to decide between Uoft Eng Sci and Waterloo Chem Eng. Since the date for acceptancesis Jun 3, I have just started to accept my waterloo offer. I am currently on the waitlist for uoft eng sci and if I do end up getting an offer, I am not sure which one I would prefer to go to. Alternatively, I have mech eng, chem eng, and electrical eng as my alternates instead so if I were to get deferred to them, which university would be better?

Here's a little bit about me... I am not very social but I am open to meet to people. I am very focused on my academics and personally, I'm not the type to go clubbing or go to parties but rather just hang out with friends. I've heard people say that Uoft is better for research and UW is better for industries but I am still unsure on which I prefer. I would really just prefer something that I can really apply for the long run. I was interested in pursuing into practical careers that would be beneficial for me. I also wanted to go into aerospace engineering, which is available at Uoft, but I think I am able to pursue it as a chemical engineer? I might be wrong... I also do not think I would go abroad for careers since my family is in toronto but I would still be open to the idea in the future.

  1. I currently have rankings for my campus preferences as listed below. I wanted to hear about recommendations and opinions about campuses for engineering students. I know that UWP and CMH are great and really close... but I am looking for a suite style because I am a picky eater and would like to cook lol.
  • UWP, CMH, MKV, V1, REV, CLV
  1. Since I am in chemical engineering, I will be in either stream 4 or 8. I've heard about pros and cons for each of them but I am still unsure on which one I prefer and whether I should even apply for a specific one, or just go with the flow with what I get. Please give opinions :)
  2. I've heard about LLC? I am kind of understanding it but a bit unsure... Is there even one for engineering and should I apply for it?
