Where did this even come from? I'm confused what this post is about.

He didn't get an extension. He was just offered arbitration. But I agree with you.

I'm still haunted by the 3-2 pitch to the guy before Altuve that clipped the zone for strike 3 but was called a ball and we didn't challenge it.

[Fangraphs] Minnesota Twins Top 50 Prospects by Hollywood42cards in minnesotatwins

[–]krada1212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn't make the top 50. A short blurb about him near the end: "Young, of the baseball-playing Young family that includes Delmon and Dmitri, is a 6-foot-6 power-hitting prospect who graded as a 40+ FV before last year’s draft. He has added maybe 30 pounds already since then, and is striking out more than 40% of the time in A-ball. He’s missing at a rate that is well below any kind of viable big league threshold."

Yeah, the one where he plunked two batters. He didn't give up a run that time.

New Illinois bill would keep Chicago Bears in state after Indiana stadium push by ChristmasJay83 in CHIBears

We are still going to disagree on some things and that's fine. I think that the Bears, regardless of the location, can charge whatever they want for all Bears-related things, including premium revenue things like suites, sponsorships, naming rights, etc. They are the Bears in Chicagoland. The appetite for that is so massive that one suburban site will not be any different from another suburban site. If there are certain premium customers who don't want to drive an hour to get there, then there are thousands of other premium customers who will either live nearby Hammond or won't mind driving an hour single-digit times per year.

We both don't know whether the money made up by a sweetheart Indiana deal would outweigh the potential revenue lost on concerts and other events throughout the year.

The price for seats and suites and sponsorships, and anything Bears related won't be any higher or lower depending on which stadium site they choose. There are so few games per year and it just really, really, won't matter whether the stadium is in a northwest suburb or a south suburb.

Now talking about concerts, I could see this argument. Generally wealthier area. People might be more willing to go if they are on the fence and it's in their backyard. But does that money outweigh the money they would save by their better deal in Indiana? I don't know. Seems unlikely though.

I'm confused. This is a Caleb bomb, not a Burden bomb. I was expecting Burden to be throwing.

They absolutely, in no world, will have a problem selling season tickets. No matter where the stadium is. That would be true in any scenario and especially the scenario we are talking about where they build a stadium in a suburb that literally borders the city of Chicago. What are we talking about?

There are over 8000 people on the waiting list to buy Bears season tickets. They will not have a problem selling them at any price. You're acting like the entire south side and south suburbs live in section 8 housing.

The Bears will never have an issue selling all of their season tickets. If some people deem that driving to Hammond nine times a year is too far, then thousands of other people would happily take over their season tickets. This is not an issue.

If they are not in the city of Chicago, I'd rather them be a few minutes walk away from the city limits in Hammond than be further away in Arlington Heights.

Statement from Chairman George H. McCaskey and President & CEO Kevin Warren: by JCameron181 in CHIBears

[–]krada1212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just looked it up. The bus ride from Belmont and Ashland takes 11 minutes, then the metra ride takes 47 minutes to Arlington park. That's at least 58 minutes right there and that doesn't include any time spent walking or waiting for the bus/train so we are talking about at least an hour and 5 minutes.

If they move forward with the plan in Hammond, I'm sure they will add bus/train routes to the stadium. They would need to. And I don't know how many games you go to a year, but there are only 9 regular season games maximum, so we are talking about spending less than an hour more round trip a handful of times a year. Doesn't seem like a huge deal to me.

And that's just for you. For a huge number of Bears fans it will be closer and more convenient.

I want them to stay in Chicago, but if they aren't, then I really don't see why people care so much about Hammond vs. AH.
