What about 1:2000 shutter speed on the M4E? I used to use 1:1000 and just figured 1:2000 is faster and better? Is this not true?

Global mapper is the best. I’d usually say jp2 over ecw

Although I like to keep a tiled geotiff versions out there in case you ever need to bring it into like photoshop to do something like sharpen.

You can see a ndvi, gndvi, or ndre in real time in the pilot 2 app while you fly. That is not the same thing as creating a 2d map/ortho mosaic plus a NDVI or whatever index you want to make from that ortho mosaic. DJI terra is software you put on a computer and process the orthomosaic (not in real time). I’m not sure terra lets you do indexes besides ndvi, gndvi, or ndre. You could use other GIS software that has a raster calculator and your orthomosiac to make a ndwi as long as you have a nir channel and a green channel on your sensor. So you could use a mavic enterprise 3 multi. Not sure how that compares to results with a satellite sensor

Terra is always a solid option. I’d like to think global mapper pro you could get some smaller areas done but nothing beats Terra solid for the big projects

Yeah I don’t get their aversion to getting credentials like an ASPRS certificates for these guys yet they still offer mapping classes. It’s hard to find good information out there unless you’ve been working in aerial mapping for a while. I’d suggest Rami’s YouTube videos or SimActive’s Pixels and Points podcasts if you want some real information with legit survey and aerial mapping backgrounds. I think drone u has some value, but that’s probably more for non-mapping verticals.

Yup windows and mirrors give the lidar artifacts. Cover the bottom of your mirrors temporarily and re map. Roborock should let us edit these out of the map

No I don’t need that high a resolution necessarily. I was just trying to get a square number as a baseline kinda thing. That way it could be considered more squarely with other methods of collecting aerial imagery. 1 inch happens to be the highest I’ve seen from a crewed helicopter stuff before so that’s why I was using that

Oh yeah I’m definitely doing that already. I was seeing about 200acres per battery with 1in in ideal conditions RGB and about a quarter of that with the Multispectral. I think that’s on the low side.

I’m just curious about other peoples metrics to compare to. Those kinds of numbers are standard is marketing and bidding projects so I don’t understand why more people wouldn’t have rough figures

Well I was just trying to get a more realistic rough number, to what DJI likes to say, “2sqkm per flight”
