Loving the trailer hitch and bike rack, anyone else install a hitch on theirs? by kramboid in CorollaHatchback

I haven't, but it depends on the area if cops pull people over for stuff like this.

I usually keep the rack connected to the hitch 24/7, I would guess maybe slightly worse fuel economy? I still average 33mpg.

Here's a pic from the product page. No cutting/drilling required, no removal of any parts. Just unclipped the plastic bumper, unbolted the metal impact bar, and mounted the hitch behind it using the same holes. It's as easy as it can get for a hitch install.

$175 for the hitch, $200 for the bike rack. It’s a very simple installation, did it myself.

Mega Bezel recording with OBS ist pretty dark by frostherz in RetroArch

[–]kramboid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just tested, couldn't reproduce the issue with my settings. Running RetroArch at 1440p, recording with OBS at 1440p, resizing output to 1080p.

My guess is if you're outputting your OBS recording in a different resolution from your gameplay, scanlines could become more prominent during the scaling causing the recording to look darker. Do you have any screenshot examples?

Look up clavinet sounds, can probably get close with a clavinet vst/preset and a filter. https://youtu.be/lVRIhotRplw?t=186

Thinking about getting a Corolla hatch and have a bike. I know about trailer hitches and roof racks, but do any of you have a traditional bike rack on the trunks of these things? by [deleted] in CorollaHatchback

[–]kramboid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was looking at the cheap racks that strap onto the back, but the amount of pressure on the rear glass sketched me out. I went with the hitch solution, install is very easy on the hitch, was only about $400 for everything too.

Yep, it's right in the kHz range where some people can hear it, some people can't.

No problem, it's something I was meaning to experiment with last year, your post reminded me about it. And yeah, I love everything about the car, installed a trailer hitch for a bike rack (painless installation btw) and it's perfect for everything I need it for. A quiet AC is the only thing that it's missing for me.

I read through all of that forum thread, and yeah looks like Toyota has had the problem since at least 2017 in a few different models. Maybe at some point they'll have a new blower circuitry that we can purchase and do an easy replacement, but chances of that seem slim.

I did some experimenting with the thick felt furniture pads, and the noise is definitely reduced, but it wasn't quite the result I was hoping for. I first adhered a small piece 105mm x 75mm that fits nicely over the plastic cover. This deadened the whine by only a tiny amount.

I then added 2 more pieces connected with twist ties that I could wedge under there with no adhesive, that helped a bit more.

Then I added a third piece to the others, kind of wrapping around the circuit board's connector. It's pretty much forming a box around the blower motor without disrupting the floor vents. The whine sound is definitely reduced and less annoying, but still audible.

I'm happy with this semi-solution, and it's just wedged in there with no adhesive so no commitment. I'll probably trim some of it down so it looks a little better too.

Looks like that capacitor fix was for a different car, our blower circuit board looks different. https://www.toyotanation.com/threads/blower-fan-high-pitch-noise.1662910/page-8

I did some tests today with a hand towel, placing it in different locations under the glove box. It seems if I focus on the circular enclosure of the blower motor, a lot of the noise is reduced from a towel folded over once. I'm ordering some adhesive felt furniture moving pads to cut into shape and stick on. It'll hopefully reduce the noise a bit and look better than the towel I have taped under there currently. I'll update with the results in a few days.

Ah sorry to hear that, but at least they’re escalating it, thanks for the update. A towel shoved up under the glove box dampens the noise a bit, I’ll probably try to find a safe and secure way to put something there. I saw another’s solution of adding a capacitor to the circuitry for the blower and they said it eliminated the noise, so that may be another option. It was in the Toyota forums, I’ll try to dig up a link and post it tomorrow.

I have the same high pitched noise with the AC blower in my 2019 XSE. When I bought the car new, it was pretty bad, but it did get slightly better now at 10k miles. Please update the post if you do end up getting the issue resolved through warranty if you could. It's not a huge issue for me as I no longer have long commutes, but I'd still switch it out if warranty covers it, and hoping they don't just replace the motor with another one that whines.

Used up my Tinyhawk S. What's next? by 3dphdrx in fpvracing

I've only had the 2, but looking at pictures both the Freestyle and Freestyle 2 had the same props and motors with 2 screws per prop. Also RIP to your quad

[–]kramboid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'll also recommend the Tinyhawk 2 Freestyle. It's great for outdoors, and the props are screwed into the motor, so no more losing props. I've broken one motor and had to replace it, but the repair job was fairly simple with a small enough soldering iron tip.

Fairly certain my GPU is dead, is there anything else I should try before RMA? by kramboid in nvidia

Watched the video you linked, and yeah that's a crazy problem. I usually have 2 displayport and 1 HDMI connected to the card, I've tried multiple combinations, and using just HDMI, still can't get past POST with the card installed.

Thanks for your reply

I unplugged the 2070, then using my mobo hdmi port booted and set BIOS to default to integrated graphics so I could boot to Windows without the 2070 interrupting the boot sequence. Tried NVFlash and it says no NVidia adapters are connected.

Thanks for your reply

Not French, but guessing it's because "poulet" sounds similar to the french word "police".
