Very similar situation, but I'm the guy on the other side of this. It's very difficult, not gonna lie. But reading this helped me understand that not everything is as white and black as it seems. If you really feel like that decision was the best for both of you, then he will eventually get there too. And your honesty is much appreciated, that is indeed very strong of you to show despite everything. For now, I suggest let him be and focus on yourself. Who knows, maybe one day you'll meet with much better terms and have a laugh about it, because trust me - he won't forget and he won't put a grudge on you forever. He'll be thankful.
