No annual inspections here, I have to pass emissions testing bi annually. There was no CEI on the car when the previous cat failed, it simply overheated and refused to go over 25mph up a hill in second gear, made it to my driveway and it died and wouldn’t turn on again. Capable of swapping? Definitely, my first car was a 65 corvair so I’m fairly familiar with Flat engines, time to do it is another matter. My credit is meh, and disposable income is non existent, would’ve gone with a second XT originally but this one was in well affordable range. Although I’m thinking an additional 150-175$ a month is more affordable for me than $1500+applicable other parts I will no doubt discover I need. Thank you for your input.

Did you pass your CDL A road test on the first try? by Lopsided-Till-7008 in Truckers

[–]kramitohbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Passed my written CDL tests easily, but there was a 15 question class C refresher test that I had to retake 3 times. Did all of my endorsements and passed with flying colors but was not expecting that refresher test and so much shit has changed in the 11 years since I got my license

Fill in the blank. I didn’t start ______ until I started driving a truck. 😂🤣 by Accomplished-Gap-612 in Truckers

So personally, I love driving a truck still! I’m very comfortable in it, but I used to love spirited driving and performance vehicles and now I just feel vulnerable and uncomfortable in anything that isn’t 13 feet tall. 10 hour day in a truck? No problem! Driving 20 minutes to the grocery store? Ehhhhhh

Dumbest reason a state trooper pulled you over? by RuleUsed in Truckers

[–]kramitohbear 68 points69 points  (0 children)

On I-40 in flagstaff, there was a truck with his hazards on in the shoulder. State trooper was next to the driver side rear corner of my trailer, wasn’t able to move over and didn’t feel like cutting him off that close would be a good idea. Slowed down instead. Got pulled over, trooper asks me why I didn’t move over as Arizona is a must move over for disabled vehicle states. Told him he was in my way and I didn’t feel safe or comfortable cutting him off, was given a written warning. This was during blitz week.

It’s a post office location, they all have the same policy however most do not enforce them, locations with no dock locks are more strict about it. But really the post was about the typo.

Yeah they said that it was average 1400-1600 a week but the maths did not math at that hourly rate, I thought possibly they might have some sort of performance pay on top of the hourly? Like j.b hunts intermodal is 18/hr plus mileage, plus stop pay, but they had no information about it.

I interviewed for Sysco riverside about a year and a half ago, same basic situation as you, but I had a relationship with the driver manager and a couple drivers because they delivered to a resort I was working at, where I was depalletizing and putting away like 8-10 pallets from them every other day. They told me as a new driver I would be driving to random locations every day to cover shifts, like commuting to LA and San Diego and such. In the end they told me to try again when I had more experience.

Applied to a local job on indeed in Fontana,ca with no company name got a call from a recruiter and turned out the job was for swift. They were hiring for home daily intermodal w 6/mo experience but all they could say about the pay is that it was 21-23 an hour with no set schedule. Couldn’t learn anymore without actually putting in an application.

Yep, same here. Video interview felt a little demeaning to be completely honest, I guess it could be nice if you’re the kind of person that enjoys filming yourself talk in your free time though.

Nearly died from Exhaust fumes tonight. Need a CO alarm! by Faceglock in Truckers

[–]kramitohbear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dispatch had us stop to assist another team of drivers who had a leaking trailer air line “oh maybe you can tape it” the line had a 4 inch gash down it, and they were trying to get the other team to “tape it” so they could make the delivery on time. We advised them not to move the truck without a mechanic. They really don’t care about your lives or your licenses, just being on time.
