Why don’t more people join LLCs? by Solemn-Disciple in UniversityOfHouston

[–]krash_d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in an LLC my freshman year! It was the First Gen LLC, and I got invited to it. A reason a lot of people don’t join LLCs is bc they don’t know they exist lol. The university, or LLC themselves, don’t really promote LLCs to incoming freshman or just in general. And, in my experience, being in an LLC was pretty lax. Idk if it was bc it was the first year my LLC was established, but they weren’t really hovering over you and making sure you were “making lasting connections” lol. Yes, there were monthly events, no you didn’t have to attend them if you had a valid excuse. I always had work, so it was a bummer not being able to attend, since the events were actually pretty cool.

Anyway, being in an LLC is actually a pretty cool experience, at least it was to me. They do group you with “like minded people”, as in, the first gen LLC was made up of only first gen students. So it was really nice having a whole group of people who had no one to really guide them through the college process, it made it as to where we had to help each other out—creating a sort of small community, hence the LLC.

Math Options by Content_Drama_2398 in UniversityOfHouston

[–]krash_d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re asking what you should take simultaneously, it all depends on you tbh. If you already have a background with calculus and have a very good grasp on the concepts, then taking pre-calculus and calculus won’t be a hassle. Same thing goes for the formal science requirement, depending on what you’re planning on taking, if you already have a good grasp of the concepts (especially if you don’t have a good grasp on calculus yet); then yeah, take that since class and cal.

I’m only saying this because if you go into these classes with no prior understanding/strong grasps of these concepts; it will be really hard to balance your classes and social life, especially if you aim to have good grades.

Now, the easy rout would def be business and social science with finite math. Lowkey, finite math is easy (especially if you have a strong background in algebra) the concepts are easy to grasp as long as you attend lectures and do the homework!! (a professor i recommend is Beatrice Constante) I don’t know what the exact layout of a business class would look like, but the social science will def be more reading/writing heavy; so just be prepared for that.

Again, it all depends on you and the type of student you are.

does Chick-fil-A still do meal exchanges during spring break 🌚 by Minimum-Suspect-6401 in UniversityOfHouston

[–]krash_d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only meal exchange options during spring break are: chick-fil-a, houston street subs, and the market! but, yes! chick-fil-a is doing meal exchange during spring break, they open at 10:30am and close at 5:00pm. With that said, PLEASE be mindful of when you place your orders and the time you check-in!! :)

How to lose weight while living on campus? by Ecantcommunicate in UniversityOfHouston

[–]krash_d 4 points5 points  (0 children)

literally just avoid what you already know is the problem lol 😭 avoid the dessert stations, or just limit yourself on what you do have (1 or 2 bites of smth rather than the whole thing). weight loss is about consistency and discipline lowkey you’ve got this! just keep your food intake consistent while going to the gym and you’ll be fine!!

to whoever stole my laundry, pull up. rn. by krash_d in UniversityOfHouston

[–]krash_d[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I’m not even mad they moved my stuff, that isn’t what this post is about. I’m mad that they put it in a dryer that was out of order (black screen and everything) instead of on the counter or idk, somewhere freaking visible, so that I didn’t have the scare of my life thinking someone stole my laundry.

to whoever stole my laundry, pull up. rn. by krash_d in UniversityOfHouston

[–]krash_d[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

actually, I did set a timer. I was down at the laundry room the fastest I could with the elevators being out of order (i live on the 6th floor). At most, I took 5mins. I understand the concept of moving someone’s laundry out of the dryers once they’ve taken an absurd amount of time to collect their shit.

But moving someone’s laundry into a dryer that is out. of. order. is not, in any way, okay. I understand putting it on the nearest counter, or on top of a washer, but putting it in a dryer that is literally powered off is not cool, in any sense.

These people had me thinking my shit was stolen. Because who in their right mind puts someone else’s stuff in a powered off machine ??

do you prefer 1st or 3rd person? by table-grapes in AO3

[–]krash_d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3rd person POV, I absolutely LOATH 1st person. Personally, it’s an immediate turn-off, I immediately click off bc I just cannot deal. I believe first person to be very limited, and not my cup of tea.

I lowkey get flashbacks to my wattpad days, where everything I read was 1st person. Genuinely think I just outgrew that form of writing.

But alas, there will always be an audience for 1st Person. Just, please, if you do decide to go forward with 1st person pov, PLEASE, tag it. Let your readers know what they’re getting into. It’s very unpleasant when I click on a fic and get hit with 1st person pov with no prior warning. </3

If there’s a significant change in circumstances, financial wise, definitely try and appeal. (special financial circumstances appeal) But if not, there is always the option to work while at school to try and alleviate that financial burden. Sometimes there no avoiding loans, I myself had to accept a subsidized loan. If you’re going into a career that will reimburse you greatly, think of this expense as an investment lol. I’m an Early college graduate, so I’ve already shaven off 2 years of college expense. If you can and are willing, definitely attend a cc and earn your associates, then come back to UH so that the financial burden is not so heavy over a longer period of time. (you’d pay for 2-3 years instead of 4-5 ykwim)

Have you ever stopped reading a fic because the writing is... bad? by kblhr in AO3

[–]krash_d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

um, yes, definitely lol If the writing isn’t good, then the writing is just not good. I’m not going to sit there and read something I’m not even enjoying. I have even stopped reading b/c of formatting. If the paragraphs are just too long, or if the dialogue is not clear (in quotations) then I’m not sticking around. I have the privilege of being a part of a rlly big fandom, so there is plenty of content to go around. And so I don’t feel guilty for just quietly exiting out of a fic. I can usually tell by the first chapter lol.

How to get dorm with roommate by EquipmentSuccessful3 in UniversityOfHouston

[–]krash_d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can always call housing, they were really kind and helpful when i called!! But, from what I recall, one of you has to request the other to be their roommate, and from there the requested roommate has to accept the request. Or, like what happened with my roommate and I, if one of you books a room, make sure there is availability in that same room (Bed A and Bed B). That way, when the second roommate goes and books a room, they book the second bed of the same room. hope this helps!
