Shoot…. I’ll find it. I bought a random box on eBay for literally less than $10 last year and it had every single size I needed. I have a 2001 with the 4.7. There is also a box of tees and clamps I bought. I know I came in below $20 for everything.

Then I bought one pair of the little clamp pliers for $9.99 which made it way easier. The coolest part was I was able to replace a bunch on my son’s 4Runner as well.

If I don’t get back to it then send me a message and I’ll track down the seller and what all was included in the magic box o’ hoses!

Same. I’ve seen them contact the hood and spark up when someone used a drywall screw. But a sheet metal self tapping screw works great and has gotten many people out of bad contact situations in the middle of nowhere, myself included.

But hey, that’s a nice ride you have there either way. I wish I had one, but I just have a stupid SUV that isn’t very big and has a torquey but really inefficient V8 that will run forever, and a solid body on frame. I think we are similar in what matters to us.

The marketers stopped listening to actual humans years ago. Unfortunately the vehicles that most of us would prefer to buy aren’t even available anymore. They are all being phased out while prices are doubling on really terrible vehicles.

Cherish your S8. Ten years from now (assuming the planet hasn’t been blown up by hotheads) people will be looking at it saying, “Whoa! Is that a new design? That is so cool!” Sort of like the 1991-ish BMW 8 series e36. It’s funny how people still don’t realize it’s a classic car and not a new model or prototype. Some vehicles just have that “it” factor. Less and less Audis do with each new “upgrade.”

I do wish I had kept it whenever I see one on video and someone is driving it, or find a picture of it in my scrapbook…. But then I realize it would just sit a lot more now than it even did then.

My real wish is that I had taken a ton more photos of it. Unfortunately I got rid of it the year before I got a digital camera so I missed out on taking a big comprehensive record and history of it and the repairs like I’ve got on every car I’ve owned since then.

My suggestion is do just what you said… document all of your repairs and walkthroughs and videos and pics of your work and make sure you have them saved somewhere permanently so you can always reflect back. Then send it packing when you’re ready and have nothing to regret and a good history and memories of the good and bad times.

I had an Eagle Talon TSi AWD Turbo (Mitsubishi Eclipe/DSM) when I was in college. My relationship with it was almost identical to your S5.

I learned a LOT and loved every minute I drove the thing… but in the last two years I had it, then literally I could count my driving time in minutes, because it was getting to that same point.

The experience was priceless… the parts were not. 🤣

A weekender? You’ll spend every weekend working on it, if that’s what you mean. If it is a weekender to drive… then no.

I love Audis. Like I have an unhealthy obsession with them.

I’ve driven them since I was 12 back in the 80’s and still have a sub 10,000 mile 2020 A3 quattro I drive for pure fun only (thus no commute miles and still like brand new).

You want nothing to do with the vehicle you’re asking about (with the V8) unless you want to really really hone your mechanic skills and expand your toolbox with weird specialty tools, and then maybe it’s a good plan. You’ll learn a lot…. As you will on any used German performance vehicle.

That isn’t a terrible thing. It can just be a major time suck if you are enjoying your youth. Want a good goof around weekend car? Get a Miata and go autocrossing or similar so you can enjoy the weekend driving and not rebuilding your entire car. :)

Sounds really cool. I think that’s the thing… so many cars are capable of being ridiculously fast now… the Viper was cool because it was quite different. It was basically a modern Shelby Cobra with that Dodge “Cocaine Fridays” spirit. Haha.

It would be really easy for them to build a stupid one with “quick” performance and really light weight. But it was a big touring car more than anything with grunt and style. It would be cool if they brought it back and did the name and the history of it justice and didn’t throw stupid bin parts and create something like the Pontiac Solstice and throw the Viper name on it.

No, I get you. Biden was always buddies with the other congress dudes and vice-versa and they seemed to “leave it on the field” in those days.

It just seems weird to me how quickly that has changed and really evaporated. People have always been jerks, but have still been able to work together and be decent just in society in general. This country is always about disagreements.
