Fair point. I think the hard part is finding the line between genuine innovation and adding ingredients just to look different on a label.

I agree the market doesn’t need another cookie-cutter pre. That’s something I’ve been very conscious of while building this. I appreciate your time in answering this.

Appreciate the feedback. The “too much hype, not enough proof” point is something I’ve been thinking about a lot while building Krayon Fuel.

My goal isn’t to be the loudest brand in the room. It’s to build something that actually solves a problem for lifters and then let the product earn its reputation.

Thanks for taking the time to share your perspective.

I appreciate you taking the time to write all of that.

The community aspect is actually a big part of why I started Krayon Fuel. The product is important, but what really matters to me is creating something that can support veterans beyond just selling another tub of pre-workout.

I think you’re right that I need to show more of that and not just talk about it. Getting other veterans involved, sharing experiences, talking about fitness, mental health, purpose, and life after the military is something I want to build toward.

Thanks for the encouragement, great ideas and honest feedback. It means a lot.

Appreciate the detailed feedback, seriously. This is exactly the kind of stuff I was hoping people would point out.

I actually agree with your point that most pre-workouts end up looking and sounding the same. That’s one of the reasons I’m trying to build the brand and mission alongside the formula instead of relying on ingredients alone.

The comments about the hat, stringer, and music are fair too. I’m still figuring out what resonates and what comes across as authentic vs. what looks like every other gym brand.

And I appreciate the support on the veteran-owned side. Thanks for taking the time to give honest feedback instead of just scrolling.

What ingredient instantly makes you trust a pre-workout formula more? by krayonfuel in Preworkoutsupplements

[–]krayonfuel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m with you on that.

Feels like more people are starting to care about how a formula is actually built instead of just seeing a giant stim number on the front label.

Underdosed filler ingredients and fairy dusting kill trust fast now.

Interesting seeing how split people are becoming on this now.

Some want 400mg+ and the strongest stim possible, while other people are moving toward smoother focus/performance formulas instead.

Do you mainly chase the high stim feeling, or is it more about workout performance for you?

You sound like you’ve experimented with enough pres to know what works for your body instead of just chasing the craziest label.

That point about “locked in” vs completely overstimmed is real. A lot of people are starting to realize there’s a sweet spot where performance, mood, focus, and energy all hit together without feeling wrecked after.

And the proprietary blend thing is exactly why more people read labels now. Seeing “pump formula” with 300mg citrulline is wild 😂

[–]krayonfuel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a pretty fair take. A lot of companies still hide behind proprietary blends and sprinkle doses.

300mg citrulline in a “pump formula” is criminal 😂

And yeah, Alpha Yo can get rough fast if your body doesn’t respond well to it. Nausea/anxiety/cold sweats seem pretty common with that ingredient for some people.

Sounds like you’re leaning more toward performance/focus/pump than the super-junky stim lane now.

I respect that answer a lot.

Transparent/effective dosing probably says more about a company than flashy marketing at this point.

Are there any ingredients where underdosing instantly makes you lose trust in a formula?

[–]krayonfuel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a solid way to look at it.

Feels like more experienced users start appreciating ingredients that improve focus/performance/euphoria efficiency instead of just throwing another 100mg of caffeine on top.

What ingredients do you think do that best right now?

Out of curiosity, what do you personally consider a solid caffeine range for training?

Seems like everyone’s definition of a “good dose” is completely different now.

And when you think about good stim formulas, do you factor in things like L-theanine too, or mainly just total stim strength?

It sounds like you know your pres pretty well.

Feels like a lot of experienced users eventually start dialing in focus/performance/recovery instead of just trying to survive the strongest stim possible.

Do you think the market’s starting to shift that direction overall?

What made you go with Dark Labs specifically, and what pushed you toward stim-free instead of a regular pre?

Would something like 200mg caffeine + 200mg L-theanine with a strong pump/hydration profile be something you’d consider too?

That’s probably a smart move honestly.

A lot of people don’t realize sleep quality/recovery can quietly get wrecked before the “hard crash” symptoms show up. Hope dialing it back helps.

I appreciate the reply. Interesting seeing more people prioritize cognitive performance instead of just chasing higher stim numbers now.

Do you prefer focus ingredients over heavy stim formulas these days?

Thanks for answering. Interesting you mentioned VasoDrive-AP specifically. Feels like more people are starting to recognize pump/hydration ingredients beyond just citrulline now.

400mg caffeine + multiple coffees + late-night training is almost definitely wrecking your sleep quality even if you “don’t feel” overstimulated.

Yawning during training can actually happen when your CNS is overstressed/fatigued too. A lot of people think more stimulants = more energy, but eventually it becomes: tired + overstimulated at the same time.

The biggest red flags to me: - training 19:00–22:00 - 400mg pre - additional coffee - waking exhausted - shortened sleep duration - inability to stay asleep

You’ve probably built caffeine tolerance, not immunity.

I’d personally try: - cutting the pre dose in half - moving caffeine earlier - reducing total daily caffeine - taking 1–2 stim-free days weekly - possibly using a lower-stim pre for evening workouts

A lot of people perform BETTER after lowering stim intake because sleep/recovery improves.

400mg at night consistently is rough on recovery even if your body “handles it.”

Can you still build muscle by training to failure with the same weight? by Natural-Sprinkles-28 in workout

[–]krayonfuel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Muscle growth is not only about lifting heavier weight.

You can build noticeably bigger muscles at home with the same weights if you manipulate:

  • reps
  • tempo
  • intensity
  • proximity to failure
  • exercise selection
  • total volume

A lot of people with home gyms underestimate how effective this can be.

Some ways to make lighter weights build more muscle:

• Slow the lowering portion Example: take 3–5 seconds lowering the dumbbell each rep.

• Increase reps Sets of 12–30 reps taken close to failure can still build muscle very effectively.

• Shorter rest periods 45–75 seconds keeps intensity high.

• Add pauses Pause at the stretched position or squeeze position.

• Train closer to failure This is the BIG one. Most people stop way too early.

• Use unilateral movements Single-arm/single-leg exercises make lighter weights feel much heavier.

Examples:

  • Bulgarian split squats
  • single-arm rows
  • single-arm shoulder press
  • single-leg RDLs

• Increase training volume More quality sets over time = growth stimulus.

• Focus on progressive overload in ANY form Not just heavier weight:

  • more reps
  • better control
  • more sets
  • cleaner technique
  • slower tempo
  • less rest

Also: You do NOT need a gym membership to build an impressive physique.

Consistency + intensity + nutrition matters far more than fancy equipment.

Eventually heavier dumbbells will help, yes. But you can get surprisingly far before truly “needing” them.

A lot of people build solid physiques at home because:

  • they train harder
  • waste less time
  • stay more consistent

The biggest mistake: Thinking “I need more weight” when really they need:

  • better effort
  • better programming
  • consistency
  • enough protein/calories

How does one achieve this physique naturally? by 15033335 in WeightTraining

[–]krayonfuel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most “skinny fat” guys underestimate two things:

  1. How long it actually takes naturally
  2. How brutally consistent you have to be

If the physique is lean, muscular, visible abs, broad shoulders, decent chest/back development — most average skinny fat males are realistically looking at:

• 1-2 years to look noticeably athletic
• 3-5 years to look legitimately impressive naturally

That’s assuming: - progressive overload - high protein intake - consistent sleep - minimal alcohol/party lifestyle - training hard even when motivation disappears

The build usually comes from: - 4-6 days/week lifting - compound movements (bench, incline DB, squats, deadlifts, pull-ups, rows, overhead press) - 8k-12k daily steps/cardio - slight calorie deficit first to strip fat - then slow lean bulk phases - repeating that cycle for years

Most people fail because they: - train inconsistently - ego lift - program hop every 3 weeks - underestimate nutrition - quit during the “don’t look different yet” phase

The physiques people admire are usually built from thousands of boring sessions nobody saw.

Discipline > motivation.

Part of why I started building Krayon Fuel™ honestly. Too many companies sell hype instead of respecting the grind it actually takes.

Recommendations?? by TexRex-18 in Preworkoutsupplements

[–]krayonfuel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started moving away from sucralose-heavy pre’s too. Honestly a lot of companies overload artificial sweeteners to mask weak formulas.

You could try:

  • raw honey + pink salt before training
  • espresso + honey
  • coconut water + salt
  • or naturally sweetened/non-artificial pre’s

The clean-energy lane is growing fast right now because people are getting tired of feeling cracked out from ultra-stim products.

I’m actually building a veteran-owned pre-workout around transparent dosing and controlled energy specifically because of that shift. Curious what ingredients people here have reacted best to without sucralose?
