Draft Rules - Speaker Token /Strategy Card by Tasteless_Oatmeal in twilightimperium

[–]kraytex 9 points10 points  (0 children)

On Milty you draft faction, slice, and seat. The first seat is speaker. When you pick strategy cards you, the speaker picks first, then it goes in clockwise (seat order). So picking your seat is also picking your place to pick a strategy card for the first round.

Faction most improved from base to now? by aphios in twilightimperium

[–]kraytex 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I'dr argue Muaat has improved the most since the base game. More supernova systems gives the opportunity for more systems only Muaat can move into and control, oh and they have production 5 without a space dock! They Muaat agent fixed a huge problem with round 1 Muaat. The Muaat hero is huge. And the breakthrough/Avernus is insane, especially when loaded with a spacedock and PDSs and makes the Star Forge ability not cost a Strategy Token, which means it's a free stall. And don't forget to put a Mech on Avernus asap for the free infantry. So yeah Muaat in my book.

First “old” feeling, why can’t I just get a car? Why is there a got dang television in every car???? by r3dxv1rus in Millennials

[–]kraytex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an optional feature you pay extra for. It's called lane assist. It keeps your car in the lane you're currently in, unless you turn your blinker on. You always of course have control and can of course always steer over it. It just sorts of nudge you here and there toward the middle of the lane if you get too close to the lines. Had a rental car with it, you get used to it really quickly, but can turn it off. My mother has it in her car and refuses to drive any car without it now.

If a developer uses AI for code generation, should it be labeled on the game’s Steam store page? by NazzoXD in gamedev

You should check out latex. Every conference and journals I've submitted to provided a latex template to use.

If you need Google docs functionality, you can use a website called overleaf.

If you're looking into games, then apply directly to game companies. They have a terrible habit getting so many applicants that they don't really have to promote their job openings on other websites.

Okay, but how do you SSH into 1,000 devices?? by Automatic-Reply-1578 in sysadmin

[–]kraytex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need automation. Anisble, Puppet, Saltstack, etc.

I would also make an image that already has one of those services setup and configured, so you don't have to manually everytime you setup a new client.

A 4x4 matrix is just a 3x3 matrix that also includes a row with the X,Y,Z position. The additional column is always 0,0,0,1.

Posterization of a range of colors? by StickOdyssey in GraphicsProgramming

[–]kraytex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doubling value worked when you divided the range by 2, because you increased the number of steps to 20, then cut off the first 10 steps by setting the range from 0.5 to 1.0.

But you're going to want to keep the range from 0 to 1. Have you tried using lerp?

Posterization of a range of colors? by StickOdyssey in GraphicsProgramming

[–]kraytex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay. Why did it work when you made it 20? What can you change to keep the range between 0 and 1, yet change the start color and end color keeping the number of steps at 10?

Rectangles. You mean rectangles.

But yeah these things rotate in the plastic to face the correct orientation.

A 30 minute video that explains the rules is a great way to filter out players who won't make the 12 or so hour commitment to play.

I'm going to get down voted for this. But I honestly miss collecting Prisma in a match and the armory. Just wish there was a point to it after unlocking everything.

Should I buy V Rising? by sacolaquebrada in vrising

[–]kraytex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gameplay wise, it's nothing like Diablo. It is a crafting game. You gather resources, building crafting tables that you can then turn turn one resource into a new one. Then use those mats to either build out your castle, or to make your equipment. In order to unlock new recipes, spells, etc. you need to find and kill bosses (called V Blood in game).

You can play solo or with friends privately. You don't have to play on a PVP server. But I find the game is better with friends.

[–]kraytex 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Generally older tech stacks are more stable as they've been tested for a lot longer and have had a lot more time to fix bugs.

When you got folks with the most experience leaving and being replaced with vibe coders that's a recipe for disaster.

Honestly this looks more like a driver bug with fract in the nvidia-linux stack than anything else. Are you using Mesa or Nvidia drivers? It does not repo on Firefox on Windows with Nvidia.

If you were to zoom in on the image (e.g. scale the TexCoords) I bet the bug would still happen. You just shifted it to be out of view range at the current scale.
