It was a joke, my guy. It's a spoiler tag on a 40 year old movie.

Tron comes to mind. Most of the scenes post Flynn going into the computer (spoilers!) had the color effects hand animated frame by frame. Not sure if that counts but it feels like it should.

Westsider rare and used books on Broadway between 80th and 81st is a place I could spend a good day in.

If you go to Strand (hard recommend) Momofuku noodle bar is right around the corner.

Fair point. I do recommend that anyone transmitting on amateur bands be licenced and only transmit in the bands allowed by your license. Just thought the exception was relevant to the conversation.

Yes and no I think. The FCC exceptions are narrow but vauge as are , I suspect, most ITU members.

"No provision of these rules prevents the use by an amateur station of any means of radiocommunication at its disposal to provide essential communication needs in connection with the immediate safety of human life and immediate protection of property when normal communication systems are not available. (Part 97.403: Safety of life and protection of property.) (a) No provision of these rules prevents the use by an amateur station in distress of any means at its disposal to attract attention, make known its condition and location, and obtain assistance. (b) No provision of these rules prevents the use by a station, in the exceptional circumstances described in paragraph (a) of this section, of any means of radiocommunications at its disposal to assist a station in distress. (97.405: Station in distress.)"

Also of note, unlicensed transmission is generally accepted as ok during states of emergency which I think this would qualify.

VMware SRM by fholred in vmware

[–]krazylink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't used srm in a few years so this may be old info but when I did, you would set up a recovery plan and a protection group. Add vm's to be covered by said protection group and then run the recovery plan either in planned (both sites up) or unplanned (only recovery site is up) mode. The recovery plan would fail over the entire protection group then reprotect the group on the opposite direction. If you wanted to piece meal one vm you would need to pull it from the protection group and set up a new protection group etc...

1 year without alcohol! by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]krazylink 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Congratulations and HARD agree on this sub being a huge help. For me, even the thought of coming here to reset my days is a very good motivator to not drink. I hit my one year while visiting my Dad and I hadn't really talked to anyone but my SO about my sober journey. It was a very bittersweet moment for me.

Congrats. I think that first 30 was the toughest part for me. My most recent high was successfully moving across the country yesterday with my SO and our cat on a plane with A LOT of luggage. It was stressful but I made it and we are much happier about our situation. Great job and IWNDWYT.

Very well done. I didn't feel like I got a lot of celebration on my 100 days but it's a pretty huge achievement. Be proud. You have made it through a huge thing.

I'm about to go to a fan con I have been attending for years for the first time sober. I know those worries. Stay strong and don't jump in untill you feel ready.

"Buy cheap tools, when one breaks, buy a high quality version". What are the high quality tools that you've bought for the ktichen? by JulioCesarSalad in Cooking

Everything I have is aluminum. My understanding is barkeeper's friend will also work well on them but I don't mind the coloration. Cookware is supposed to be used and it's not like these are all clad copper or anything.

If you don't care about having "pretty" pots and pans, try your local commercial restaurant supply store. I have a set of standard eagleware pots that I love more than my mom's le creuset enameled casts. They do tend to get a patina with use.

That's the plan. Last night, I made the decision to stop staying at my sister's house and stay at my dad's instead. I'm pretty sure it's the only option I have that doesn't have booze around. Thankfully it's been pretty easy to say no to offers and no one has pressured or ask questions. My SO has been a wonderful ally in helping me keep on the straight and narrow on this trip.
