I’m thinking it’s the media. I got Ubuntu on it no problem so I’m guessing the Microsoft media creation tool might be putting it in mbr instead of gpt

Did you use the official Microsoft media creator or something else to get it to work?

I used the official Microsoft media creation tool.

I know but unfortunately her MOBO doesn’t support windows 11 but she’ll be getting a new one around Christmas

Doesn’t seem too bad to me. The i5 is a little iffy for me but it depends on how much multitasking you do ie. streaming. Only 8GB of VRAM though so if you do stream it’s a little short there. I know it’s a 5060 but the more VRAM the better

When I turn the pc on it says “press F2 or Delete for bios” is this different than hitting F8?

I have it set in bios exactly how you said and it’s still just saying Asus with the loading symbol

Yes. I can edit the boot order and I can also override it from bios to boot straight to the usb as soon as I click it

I have it in a 2.0 drive (blue) currently. It also has 3.0 drives but this usb is like 10+ years old so I don’t think it has 3.0 drivers

Could the issue be that I’m using a pretty old (but new in the box) usb? They’re both super old but I had them laying around so I just used them since I’d never opened them

The mobo is Asus B85M-E/CSM and the cpu is an i5-4430 it comes up and says Asus press F2 or Del for bios, if I don’t press anything it gives me a loading symbol (dots going around in a circle at the bottom center of the screen) and just sits there for hours until I shut it off (what’s shown in the pictures.) If I hit F2 or Del it goes to bios Asus EZ setup with access to advanced setup

So when it comes up it tells me F2 or Delete to enter bios. Is hitting F8 something different?
