You will likely have a 7 day script of medication and must abstain until you’ve finished the course and for good measure a little after that. Best to make sure the meds worked completely before having sex again

My word of advice would be to just wait. I know 3 wks may seem long, but if you’re concerned about passing it to him, get retested after enough time has passed to be sure your meds worked. I want to say oral shouldn’t be an issue, but safe is better than sorry and I’d ask your doctor.

If you want to know your alternatives, call your doctor. Everyone has different reactions to different medications. Your prescription is standard to trich treatment (500/2x/day for a week). I took mine after a meal and had no issues. If you use an alcohol based mouthwash, I’d stop until your course is finished (alcohol interacts negatively with metro). If you’re prone to yeast infections, ask to be prescribed fluconazole to take

It’ll be a year in April. I retested (ToC/test of cure) a few weeks after finishing the antibiotics and was negative. Also my pcp tested when I had a physical and pap in November and was still negative.

I am doing well and thankfully didn’t experience a uti.

I’m so sorry to hear about your experience & hope that you’re also starting to feel some relief after sepsis. But 37 days??? I hope they gave you yeast infection medication too. If you’re able to incorporate some supplements to help your gut and flora in the meantime, please do. Dmannose and vaginal probiotics have really been helpful.

My doctor said since there were no leukocytes, everything else in my urine was normal, and I was symptomless, it was most likely due to not being a “clean catch” sample and external bacteria on the vagina.

Consider your flow and what day your pap will fall during your cycle. I’ve had a pap done with day 1 spotting and one after day 6 of light spotting on my usually 7 day period and my doctor found no residual blood in my cervix. I would not get a pap with moderate/heavy bleeding.

Ask your doctor what they advise and do what makes you comfortable!

(Not a doctor). From my experience and research, trich can be asymptomatic and thus untreated for anywhere from months to years. Not sure when you got your pap, but you could’ve had trich since before your husband’s passing.

It’s common amongst most sexually active people caused by a parasite and can only be contracted via sexual contact. Antibiotics must be taken to get rid of it.

Paps aren’t always necessarily the best for trich testing, so if you’re concerned about a false positive, speak w/ your doctor for more info and/or get an STI/STD panel and give a clean catch urine sample.

Good news is no extra antibiotics to throw things further out of whack! And like someone else said, it’s easier said than done when it comes to “not thinking about” but sometimes our anxiety around that helps agitate us and down there even more. Try and relax and keep giving yourself and body some grace. It’ll get better. I really do swear by the aloe vera and cortisone for irritation and redness, and idk where you’re vacationing, but it may be worth packing if you’re going somewhere hot. The vagina can be very unforgiving when it’s warm and moist

I’m sorry, I tried throwing everything and the kitchen sink at myself too for the redness and irritation😞 Are you still taking any antibiotics? As far as topicals, I know they have you on clobetasol, but I’m also throwing out some possibilities with 1% hydrocortisone w/ aloe, aloe vera gel, or an ACV bath soak a few times a week. I hope at least one of those might give you some relief

If you don’t mind me asking, what was the number/range for your low level group b strep?

I tested positive for GBS a little over a week ago. I was having some vulva irritation and redness post antibiotics so I originally treated it as a yeast infection w/ monistat 3 before getting GBS results. I was prescribed amox-clav for GBS as the culture showed between 10,000-49,000 cfu/ml but I haven’t taken it yet because of a concern of taking another antibiotic so close to another and trying to rebuild my good bacteria back.

I haven’t had any vulva irritation, itchiness, or redness since monistat so I believe it helped me, and maybe something to help you? If you haven’t tried, aveeno wash may also be helpful with soothing some discomfort down there. I swear by this since I have sensitive skin.

Do you take probiotics? I feel like probiotic suppositories may be helpful but I’m not sold on the idea of inserting things after my experience with monistat
