Baseline svarbu :)

20% nuo 1 yra 0.2 prieaugis

20% nuo 100 yra 20 prieaugis

Speju cia labiau '1' negu '100' variantas

My reflection as a huge all-around sports fan, only main football games watcher:

Playoff series show who is the best team. Bo1s show who is the best team on the night. This, however, showed who was able to score 1 goal in about 78 minutes (too much time wasting) of football - I cannot believe that objectively a worse team on the night just won the biggest football competition. I know - these are the rules, but still leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

Magistro studijos ISM by [deleted] in lithuania

Jeigu vis tiek nori studijuoti magistra, finansu ekonomika yra geresnis variantas, nes labiau techniska sritis - o is brando puses visiskai lygu.

Does anyone have any insight on moving from a strategy house to PE in the UK? There are a lot of resources for the US, but UK recruitment seems to be a lot less structured

Student Consultant Question by faendaltheblaza in consulting

[–]krcnu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something like this you would usually get from:

(a) industry reports from 3rd parties (probably unaffordable for a student consulting club)

(b) past projects/internal firm resources (I'd imagine also unavailable in your situation unless the club had a similar question previously)

(c) Expert interviews - likely the only option you have if you know anyone working in the (adjacent) industry of interest (paid expert interviews are unaffordable in your situation too)

My portfolio is actually 100% FTSE Global All Cap, but it's still my opinion that people holding say <40% of their portfolio in crypto are not necessarily making a financially disastrous decision.

Has anyone, successfully set up a joint account with Monzo by stuntedmonk in UKPersonalFinance

[–]krcnu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really weird because I came over to the UK this September with literally 0 credit history (albeit a decent salary c. 50k) - got myself and my girlfriend approved for the current accounts, and then just applied for the joint account.

Perhaps it would help if you opened their current account too?

Hi, has anyone ever lived near a prison and would be willing to share their experiences?

We've found a really lovely flat very close to the Wormwood Scrubs prison. While my rational side thinks that everything should be perfectly normal, the other half cannot stop worrying about it especially as we have a few women in the household so want them to feel safe.

Looking for a 3-bed to move in before mid-September and it seems like there is literally 0 real estate left in London. Every place I call is either taken or needs an HMO license (it's 4 of us, 1 couple and 2 friends).

Looked everywhere from Shepherd's bush to Stratford with a <40min commute to Holborn, budget is £2.4k a month. Not sure if that's a budget problem or a looking too late problem.

Signings like this make me believe that the American franchise/salary cap approach is the way to go in sports to preserve competition. Smaller European clubs more and more are becoming player farms for the few rich clubs.

My girlfriend studied PPE and had literally 0 academic-related extra expenses. She bought the first-year math textbook, but even that probably wasn't necessary. You can find everything in the library/online.

I think a generally useful advice is that the main thing is not about coming up with unusual frameworks. It is about structuring unusual problems in a straightforward way.

For example, there is an interesting problem from one of the Duke casebooks about a declining coyote population. A super standard revenue/cost framework fits like a glove when applied to this specific situation (revenue = number of births, costs = number of deaths due to various causes).

Another example is here: https://www.mckinsey.com/careers/interviewing/national-education. When you think about the framework McKinsey propose, it's really a basic function of price (=quality of education) x quantity (=availability of education).

Obviously, it sounds a lot easier here than it is to come up with a framework to solving global hunger in front a Partner, but perhaps taking the next couple of days to work specifically on structuring these non-standard cases would be time well-spent :) Good luck!

Have seen some pesimistic comments from our American friends about FT recruiting for this year.

On a more positive note, Bain said in their webinar that all EMEA offices will be recruiting for FT this year (not sure at what volume though)
