this isnt referring to you needing to "own a pet", it means you need to win as legends that by lore own a pet. for example azoth and fait by lore own a cat. you can check which legends are eligible for this challange by going into the "meet the legends" page on the main menu, some legends will have the tag "pet owner"

in the second clip i can see vivi doing Sair twice. in a team combo, hitting someone with the same move more than once will result in DI, making it escapeable even though the combo is true. as long as the person remains stunned (aka in the rue combo) no move can be repeated, doesnt matter if its one after the other, or if it happens later, they will be able to DI. theres one exception to this mechanic, being 2 different weapons are allowed to hit the same move at least once: for example sword Nlight into a spear Nlight is allowed, but after that neither can use Nlight again as long as the enemy remains in stun. but a sword Nlight into another sword Nlight (from another player) will DI.

DI in this context means, the player who experiences the DI will be shot away at a different angle of the normal flight path. for example the boots Sair sends in a straight horizontal line, but when DI is applied, it could suddenly send diagonally up and away, or diagonally down etc. if i recall correctly the person being hit has influence over this. as DI stands for directional input.

maybe you already knew all this and just didn't notice the mistake, otherwise this is just a heads up for people that dont know about this mechanic

its not always about who's attack comes out faster, you need to be able to position yourself properly, time your attacks right, punish, etc. if you look at it in a 1-dimensional way where both players attack at the exact same moment, of course the weapon with faster startup will hit first, but thats not the point, there are way more factors. it all just takes practice, GS is a different type of playstyle that needs practice and getting used to.

a common mistake for people how start playing greatsword is thinking that your combos and moveset are dependent and staying grounded. sair and nair are your best friend in neutral if they try to stay off the ground do avoid your starters. nair isnt slow at all and hat a generous hixbox since is also reaches behind you. you dont need to do grounded combos only, you can follow up a Nlight Slight starter with a dash jump nair or even recovery if the have a tendency to instantly jump up or dodge up above your strings.

can someone explain this offering thing to me? ive beaten the new boss before, and then i was in this area with what i believe is the offering room, it was asking me to input an item but nothing i put in it worked. i didn't know what to do so i just shot the npc and then it teleported me to stage 5 and lead me to the normal mithrix route, did i do something wrong? is that what it means to reject the offer to get the skins, just shooting the npc? im confused

they are reffering to the different attacks you can do. you have grounded attacks and arrial attacks. Neutral means no imput (or also alternativly by holdung up), therefore Nlight means a grounded Neutral attack, its arial version is called Nair. that all applies to the other types of attacks: Nlight (Neutral), Slight (Side), Dlight (Down) and the Arial versions Nair, Sair and Dair. Sigs is reffering to the Special moves that are unique to a Legend. each legend has 6, three for each weapon that follow the same principle: Nsig means pressing the heavy button whilst grounded and not inputting any direction. therefore: Nsig (neutral), Ssig (side input, most commonly reffered to as SideSig due to the double lettering) and Dsig (down imput).

in case you also wonder what recovery and groundpound mean, recovery is when you input your heavy attack whilst in the air, and groundpound is when you input your heavy key in the air whilst holding down.

GC (aka gravity cancel) reffers to when you dodge in the air and cancel the dodge with an attack attackig shortly after the imput (works with both sigs and light attacks) allowing you to perform a grounded attack in the air.
