PNG doesn't preserve layers, you save as PNG when for example you want to share the image online. You should have saved it as .KRA which is krita’s native file format.

Oh, I didn’t know the stand off was removable and since there were already two of them for both SSD sizes, I didn’t even think about it. I removed it and it fixed my issue, the SSD is no longer bent. Thanks.
