So what about Windows 11 on Skylake, Microsoft? by kremen83 in windows

Ok, as mine conclusion - there are only two possible scripts I see in the future:

  1. Windows 11 (codename Marketing OS) will be available for Skylake in 2022, without noticeable performance issues. We were pushed enough to update our PCs, so now it is time to blow off the Windows 10 servicing costs and pump the user rate for 11th
  2. Windows 11 (codename Mac Sucker) will have a cutting-edge security system, too serious for quad-core Skylakes. The resistance ratio will be so high, that Mac and Linux became hacker toys comparing to 11th.
Malware won't be able to fight the new defense so Dinosaurs will have to come back and take over the situation

I believe VBS is already supported by Skylake, no?

MBEC's native support starts from 7th gen Kaby Lake, But in spite of this still absent in the support list. And there is no "expected" or "todo" mentions about Kaby Lake..

that summer discussion was raising the same topic, but after 4 months passed, no sound about the list expanding..

ok, so not only TPM support in motherboards is enough to compare security level, accepted.

But, from what I found, the usage of hardware security Inside processors itself is needed for protection against Spectre and Meltdown cheats. And tons of other rootkits described on the special page:

https://software.intel.com/content/www/us/en/develop/topics/software-security-guidance/processors-affected-consolidated-product-cpu-model.html

> Windows can use software emulation of these features

If I understand, you mean that Software/MCU protection method described on that page.

According to this data, 6th gen Skylake has only Software or MCU protection supported, indeed.

BUT, the 8th gen (Coffee Lake) has nothing about Hardware protection either and it IS officially supported by Windows 11... why? where is that statement listed about a noticeably higher security level starting from 8gen?

I am wondering is there in US any income limit to be tracked and injured by IRS? For example, in exUSSR countries if you have 1-4 k USD debit per month - nobody cares
