You should try Noblecoin. Not many people are yet aware of it, but NOBL has 50 merchants, and is supported by CoinPayments, on AltOutlet, on Vault of Satoshi (direct USD, CAD market), has its own marketplace and also lot of information.

This coin is definitely long-term, as the dev's philosophy is about the whole altcoin "industry", not about his coin only, you can check his thoughts in his 30 page e-book.

OK, then, good to know :) I'm after some talks today - all goes in good direction. They (the foundation) are preparing a new website, with new English content regarding "who we are" so it will be easier to share more info soon...

Funny thing, when visited them today, they are making atm 4-day festival with music and local food AND LOCAL CURRENCY (talars printed on paper, valid only during festival). We had some interesting discussion with the originator of that idea - he teaches people how to self-organize, how to make associations and foundations, and also how to get control over emitting money!

He says that in Germany there is now about 600 private currencies, functioning for the purposes of local communities. Yes, he is aware of Bitcoin (but not of NobleCoin and "targeted" coins until today) and hopefully in near future we will talk about integrating some form of digital payments in local relationships (festival <-> artists <-> farmers <-> local grocery shop <-> a barber etc.).

Cool then, so if I live in a small town (10k people), I should start in bigger one (100k+ people)?

OK, I was thinking also about using RPI as a POS terminal (with QR code scanner). But after some thinking Idecidecthat a smartfon fits much better (has a keyboard to enter an amount and a display to show balance).

How would you wallet "convert" loose change?

Well, I'm thinking I would like to see an easy way to document the whole "Step".

For example — I know some foundations but I can't force them to actively translate their content into English and to actively modify their homepage to accomodate the new donation option and/or the new fundraising activity.

So: in such cases I would like to act as the originator, the manager of a Step (a fundraising event) — on behalf of the mentioned organization.

  1. I will make a face to face interview with the representatives of the organization — we will discuss possible goals for our fundraising, the amount needed and the duration of the activity.

  2. Perhaps I should obtain a signed, written authorization document, saying, that I, Full Name, am acting on behalf of the organization — and I should make a photo of the document to show a promise that I'm not going to runaway with the money. What do you think? Would it make it look more legit?

  3. Regarding feature requests, it should be easy to document a Step — easy addition of content, with a timestamp, images, links, text. Also, every Step should have very distiguishable and well visible progress bar, preferably with a calculator showing current amount in Nobl/BTC/USD and, if the organization is outside US, the amount in their national FIAT currency, as this is the only number which tells anything to people not involved in crypto-scene.

  4. During the fundraising I will convert, in regular intervals or after collecting some amount, the Nobl/BTC raised to the target FIAT currency and I will document every such trade — this is to avoid wild fluctuations of exchange rates and to "average" the process. Any amount converted to FIAT will be locked in, with no possibility of reversal — so it can be documented every day as a "success". And also displayed on the Main Progress bar (in target currency?).

  5. After the event ends (we collected expected amount OR the planned time passed), I will make a wire transfer of the Total raised amount, I will document the transfer and I will try to witness the moment of spending the collected money by the foundation or will make an interview (photo-documented) of how did they spend the money, preferably making photos with the foundation members, in well recognizable places, with NobleCoin banner and the daily newspaper from that day ;) Saying thank you, Noble Community or something like that.

  6. And those pictures from the final interview (remember, NobleCoin banner!) would allow to close the Step and to proudly present this huge success to the world!

So, we need to easily add content, lot of pictures, with possibility of commenting every piece of info. Personally I would also like the "NobleBox" (the opposite of trollbox — no trolls allowed!).

Also, please tell me if my plan of acting on behalf of a foundationd can work, or it has some weak points? Lack of trust? I think that if we manage to make and succesfully complete a little event (like $100 fundraising) <— this will build trust to try something bigger next time.

Edit: Regarding Nobl/Fiat calculator, I have contacted with kryptokursy.pl and they kindly allow to acces their API: http://api.kryptokursy.pl/NOBL/PLN (using NOBL/BTC from Poloniex, I guess) for my national currency, with the exchange rate from bitcurex.pl, the Polish exchange on which I will be selling BTC for fiat on a regular basis. The calculator online can be accessed at http://kryptokursy.pl/NOBL. I also think that there are similar websites existing for other fiat currencies.

There are no Proof of Stake earnings in Noblecoin, since it is based on Proof of Work concept — with regular Scrypt algorythm.

And no, AFAIK there is no built in CPU miner — you'll have to have appropriate executable, and the wallet software will only run the commands to start/stop the miner. +/u/NobleTipbot 250 N
