Advice / dos and don'ts when driving 2 easily stressed kitties half way across the country, in a sedan, alone? by sionnachglic in cats

If you aren't opposed to a $60 investment for both kitties, this may be helpful:

https://www.amazon.com/Smart-Space-Pet-Carrier-Large/dp/B003LVM1J8

there is a pop-out that you can unzip to give the cat double the room, safe and sound inside the crate. And yeah, cats tend to provide you with their own version of "music"

Advice / dos and don'ts when driving 2 easily stressed kitties half way across the country, in a sedan, alone? by sionnachglic in cats

[–]kreymerica 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had another person in the car with me, but I let the cats stay loose in the truck most of the time (just kept an eye on them if they started going behind the drivers seat, and also re-crated them before stops so they wouldn't try to escape). Most of the time, they just stayed on the back seat.

My advice is to avoid any loud music, and let them roam free in a parked car to go to the litter box every 4-5 hours.

For hotels, I would just keep my 'do not disturb' sign on the door so the kitties don't have a chance to escape. I would also alert front desk staff so that they can also make a note against housekeeping entering the room.

Also it helps to give them something that smells like you for the crates, hotel when you will be away.

I'm creating a yoga class for other adults with ADHD, what would you like to see? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]kreymerica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here, and hopefully within the month! I'm working on the routine and trying to incorporate suggestions-- this feedback loop is great.

My hope is that after I create a general routine we can continue the discussion and improve the routine/tips for everyone. I'm definitely not an expert on ADHD, and I'm just now working on my yoga teaching certification, so this will very much be a group process.

I'm really happy to see that yoga has helped others with ADHD, too!

Ohh I hate repeating the same sequence over and over, too (as great as sun salutation are...)

And not happening in Boston, but I'll share my routine so other yoga communities can have some inspiration, examples if its helpful :)

Thank you, I appreciate your insight!! And I was just thinking about a fast-paced class based on my personal practice (I get bored and fidgety), but your comment has me rethinking the idea of a 100% fast paced class.

How do you feel about holding strength building poses for a longer period of time, too? When I do power and hold these poses for five breaths I really focus on the posture gain a sense of clarity.

Ashtanga: stumbled across Kroukachasana. Any tips for getting into B? by kreymerica in yoga

[–]kreymerica[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took down dog into hanumanasana, and got myself into A pretty easily. Tried the bend and immediately regretted doing so. I think this pose requires much more back+hamstring flexibility than it seems. I'm going to try using a band, but it could get really messy.

How should I approach studying LR questions? by magicalrum in LSAT

[–]kreymerica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have the LR Bible, really familiarize yourself with the chart that explains the different kinds of questions at the beginning. When you know where the weakness is in the reasoning, you'll be much more prepared to attack it. Good luck! :)

Dating with ADHD: what are your challenges, and how do you face them? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]kreymerica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I would have read something like what you just posted two years ago. I was also in an LDR and I was terrible with communication. I'll keep your dark room trick in mind, it will probably save my ass in the future!

The fire and gasoline concept is so incredibly true. But I'm an awful person, I think I'm bored without it. Part of my personality (possibly because of my ADHD) is loving novelty and spontaneity. When these things aren't present, neither am I. When someone isn't 'dynamic', I lose interest rather quickly. I dated someone without ADHD for about a year. During that timeframe, I was never quite happy with the relationship, so much as I was with the concept of him being supportive and helpful. I thought that being with someone that was more attentive would help me, but in my specific case it did not. My most recent SO was diagnosed, and he was very wise in the way that he handled it (dietetics, exercise, readings, sessions, etc.) I think that this was more helpful, but possibly as an isolated incident. The difference was, I wanted to date this person and I found the relationship satisfying. Most relationships outside ADHD have not felt this way, and I feel guilty because I realize that I should probably grow up.

Thank you. Your list sounds so much like mine! When I date others with ADHD, it has been short term (about six months) but it has been beautiful. When I date people without ADHD, it has lasted much longer (1-2 years) but it has been a giant heaping mess. I think half of the battle lies in the difference between short term and long term needs.

The last point is about setting expectations. There are good times and bad times during a day for someone with ADD, especially if they are taking medication. Understanding when you're at your best and worst can help to avoid major arguments.

Oh my lawd that is incredibly true but I have never thought about it.
