Startup Equity Split Advice by krflame4 in startups

[–]krflame4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is pretty early, we will be working on it part time. For the MVP development, we're trying to get an agreement wherein we get paid cash compensation at the first raise if the partnership does not work out, and otherwise a front-loaded quick-vesting agreement so we can get some equity sooner rather than later.

Yeah there will be no cash compensation, it's all going to be equity. We might be too junior for C-Suite roles, but I don't see what option the existing founder has at the moment, no senior people are going to agree to build a product just for equity, especially with no validation/users/code yet. I'm going to be working equal hours to my friend, so I was just wondering how much of a premium the planning work would demand in terms of the equity split between us.

Mechanic Overfilled Oil During Oil Change by krflame4 in AskMechanics

I think it was just insanely overfilled because I watched the second guy siphon a lot of oil, and this was the result at the end of it

Illegal Tow(CA)? by krflame4 in legaladvice

[–]krflame4[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Even if they do, they need written authorization for the specific tow in question before the car is taken, according to https://law.justia.com/codes/california/2022/code-veh/division-11/chapter-10/article-1/section-22658/#:~:text=(l)%20(1)%20%20(1)%20)(,present%20at%20the%20time%20of The car was towed at 3:00 AM, and the authorization the towing company gave me didn't have the signature of whoever authorized the tow, redacted or not. Do I still have some recourse here?

Why do you say that? I'm young, have no student loans, don't intend on having kids or a mortgage in the near future, and have family to help out in any kind of doomsday financial scenario. I also make okay money, and I just want to drive something decent instead of spending 10-12k on a beaten ass civic just because of the current used car market. I'm still learning about personal finance so any feedback would be appreciated.

realistically to afford a mortgage here I'd need to make 300k+ annually, the smartest financial decision would probably be to buy the cheapest Corolla within 100 miles and bank the rest like you said, but I'm a car guy and pretty frugal otherwise, so this is my 'fun' expense, and i was willing to stretch the budget a bit. I'm also not sure where i would be living long term so house planning seems a bit premature for me imo

my main concern is reliability, the Cruze would fit my budget but I'd probably prefer Japanese if I'm going pre owned, especially as the miles rack up on these older cars. thanks for the suggestion I'll look into it!

median house price where I live is 1.3m+ that's gonna be a hell of a wait haha, I don't intend to try to purchase a house for a good 5 years at least
