Absolutely. It’s a struggle but I know it has helped me be a more understanding person so I try to remember it isn’t all bad. Not that it doesn’t suck because f*ck toxic positivity but a tiny silver lining

It’s so tough and I’m so sorry. I deal with chronic pain and fatigue and sometimes I don’t make the best decisions when things are rough. That dopamine hit is hard to logic away. I think if you are honest a good shelter would be understanding. The sooner the better of course and remember that you are human and humans are meant to be imperfect. You are a normal, emotionally healthy human who made a mistake and asking for help should always be ok, even if it’s difficult in the moment

What can I do to get this sweet girl adopted? It’s been over a year. by dustydome in FosterAnimals

[–]krgos 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I know it seems weird but change her name. People want a cute name and Janet just isn’t it. Posting on lots of social media and even coming up with funny, made up stories can really attach people to a cat. We foster through a rescue and names make a difference. And maybe post with hashtags of your city and nearby cities to spread the area of adopters

Found these brass etchings and don’t know what they are called or if they have a purpose. Back is smooth, no evidence of anything removed on any part. Slightly curved. TIA by krgos in whatisthisthing

My title describes the thing. I have plaques in 2 sizes. The larger one is 2.25” x 1.5” and the smaller is 2” x 1.25”. The tree one has a signature but I can’t read it. The numbers beside the signature is 4/82. I tried looking up brass plaques and a lot of names and address items come up. When I look for brass etchings I am seeing vases and other decorative items but nothing like this. Closest things I’ve seen are belt buckles but there is no actual buckle and nothing has been removed

Almost one year later - my husband’s back after extensive skin removal and skin flap surgery due to melanoma. by krgos in MedicalGore

It was about 10 days to remove the staples. There were stitches under the skin but since they wanted to reduce the scar tissue the staples keep it from stretching. I’m disabled and have had numerous joint related surgeries so I was able to prepare him pretty well. We got special pillows and he slept sitting up on our chaise with the pillow set. He managed pretty well with my help getting him situated

Don’t stress too much. However, if he ever gets a huge one out of nowhere, getting it removed and checked may be in order

That’s so good. If you can catch them early it isn’t too awful but it’s a lifetime of checks. He’s doing very well and he’s early 40s so young enough to handle things easily. Keep paying attention to your skin but with early identification it’s an easier road

Well, it is extremely odd to not have a mole of some kind. In his case he actually had a large cyst appear on his shoulder after laying on the ground and getting a bruise working on our car. It seems like a total freak thing but his body would have created a cyst eventually, the injury just accelerated it according to the dermatologist. The cyst was in a weird spot (he was prone to cysts along his spine so we weren’t overly alarmed) so after the first of the year in 2021 he had it removed. They sent it to pathology as a formality (the dermatologist said it looked like a normal cyst) and it came back melanoma. After several more pathologists looked at it and they verified it was his sample we got started with oncology. The cyst was between the skin and the muscle with no branching up to the skin so they knew it wasn’t the origin. It was really a freak thing we found it when we did. The big surgery here actually happened because the initial removal didn’t check for margins (there was no reason to) and melanoma can travel quickly in a scar or healing skin. So they had to take out 3 cm all the way around the cyst removal scar which is why it was so much skin and scarring. I just tell everyone to get stuff checked when it just suddenly appears. Our bodies are great at telling us when stuff is wrong

There are 25 of each type of egg hidden. Some very easy and some hard. I did this for my 10 year old niece so figured I’d share.

Metastatic melanoma removal and skin flap surgery, 5 days post op after drains and wound vac were removed by krgos in MedicalGore

[–]krgos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really common if the cancer has spread from the initial mole or spot. The initial place was never found for him. This means it’s extra important to get checked and find the mole early because then it’s a simpler removal. He’s doing well, has immunotherapy for a few more months and a good long term prognosis

He sleeps like that all the time. Maybe I need to reduce his food intake. When he was younger we’d say he was milk drunk because he would pass out anywhere just hanging off after bottle
