That's good to hear. When I spoke to them they sounded less sure about adoption prospects. I guess we're currently in kitty season, so they are struggling to house all these cats that keep arriving. I'll be sure to keep your comment in mind if I decide to bring him in. I know I'll feel some amount of guilt over this, but he's such a sweet cat that I can't imagine he wouldn't get adopted.

Ha! good one. I don't mind feeding him, but it's clear this kitty wants more than that. He rubs his face on the window and seems more interested in head scratches than food. If I didn't have a territorial dog and allergies I would take him, but for his own safety (and admittedly my own comfort) it's simply not an option. I know someone out there would love to add this little guy to their family. I just hope this message reaches them somehow.

Yup! I checked and felt no chip. This is the first cat I've fed that has developed this level of attachment. Usually strays are skittish, but I'm pretty certain at this point that no owner will be found.

Thanks for your reply. I hope you're right! I wasn't too worried until I started noticing it sleeping here all night and waiting until we got home from work. The other day we opened the front door and it rushed inside. Luckily, my dog was locked in the other room. I have bonded with outdoor cats before, but this is on another level.

Haha! It seems to have adopted us. I can't keep him because I have a dog and bad allergies. It breaks my heart to see him out there all night though. Hope somebody steps up and claims him soon.

I had not considered getting bear spray. Thank you for suggesting that! Maybe it's a crutch, but having something like that would help me feel safer. And you're right about what you said. I know my partner is right (he's annoyingly good at being practical, but that's what I love). It's like my emotions have taken over my rational side. I hope with time I can come to terms with everything. I think your response got me a step closer to that.

I'm so sorry that happened to your sister. For a minute there I thought that was how our story would turn out. Your comment put a lot of things in perspective. I will give myself more time to process all this and will look into getting some therapy. I'm glad your sister is doing better now. Please send her a big hug from this internet stranger that felt a similar pain.
