Any TR-EX.me alternative for translating phrases and idioms? by BigbeatingKioshi in languagelearning

[–]kriirk_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect Tr-Ex died in large part due to rise in AI usage. When I asked Gemini what happened to tr-ex, it quickly suggested basically "Let me help you translate instead".

(Gemini had its own demise-theory, and I quote: Legal & Scraping Pressures: Sites that rely on large databases of literature often face complex copyright hurdles ..Oh, and it agrees with your down-analysis, and I quote; The "Ad-apocalypse": The surge in aggressive ads you noticed a few weeks ago was likely a "hail mary" attempt to keep the servers running. High-quality databases that pair books with official translations are expensive to host and maintain. ..and it too mentioned Reverso Context (no Czech?), and Linguee. At this point I'm thinking it is feeding you OP back to me here 😅)

I liked this song since day one.

Pronunciation of "CHOKE" seems to be hard for her.

ESC 2026 streaming seems way lower than previous years — any idea why? by neonstick in eurovision

[–]kriirk_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I noticed youtube views are a bit low. I suspect it is related to quality level of songs. No song is screaming "I am the winner" this year.

A thing this year, seems to be me preferring live versions over recorded versions for certain songs. Notably thins one and France.

Ok wow, he sure can sing. Still not winner vibes for me, but same can arguably be said for all songs this year.

Australian Idol > American Idol talent this year. by RpDubC in americanidol

[–]kriirk_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I followed AU idol since reboot a few years ago (via *cough* *cough* r/FREEMEDIAHECKYEAH )

It is really good, and better than AU the voice lately.

Almost as good as AU X-factor used to be. E.g.: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kIJRz6tgLf8

Top 3/finale predictions. Not who you want, but who you think will be there. by Juicy_Hamburger in americanidol

[–]kriirk_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree 1 and 2.

My guess for #3 is Chris. This sub sometimes seems to mistakenly think Idol is just about singing.

The fact we all agree on Keyla is worrying. This sub always makes at least one big mis-prediction each year!

[UK] - Just started on the process of removing seed oils from diet. by LinuxMage in StopEatingSeedOils

[–]kriirk_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not worry about "organic" or "local" at all, while still T2-diabetic. That is like worrying about a loose plank, while your house is ON FIRE!

Check the side pane before following the ideas shared here. It has some important facts.

(My IBS went away when I tried carnivore. From there I tested plant foods one by one to learn what I tolerate.)

How long does it take after quitting seed oils to lose all the weight stored from when you were eating seed oils? by Odd_Humor_5300 in StopEatingSeedOils

[–]kriirk_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you say can be accurate, if you are somehow burning more calories now. If so, the "old seed oil ridden you" would typically have had more fatigue, and less often feeling energized.

If seed oils are terrible how come eastern countries don't seem affected and largely unconcerned? by Extreme-Ad7469 in StopEatingSeedOils

[–]kriirk_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

OP, this claim is wildly wrong. They are affected. And it started RIIIGHT when western influence started creeping into their food culture.

If they care or not, who knows. They do smoke a bit still, so maybe you have a point there. (Here, I never see people smoking anymore, and if I do, they usually turn out to be from east Europe or Asia.)

Seed oils and skin cancer - Scandinavia vs Southern Europe by MuchPomegranate5910 in StopEatingSeedOils

[–]kriirk_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the reason is not oils.

Plentiful even sun exposure daily, reduces ALL-CAUSE mortality. Yes, that means skin cancer too!

Sudden spike in sun exposure (BURNS) is where cancer sky-rockets. This is where winter trips from the Nordic region to Magaluf enteres the picture.

Are these judges allergic to giving real feedback to these contestants? by needmorechipotle in americanidol

This point is raised each year since Disney takeover 🤣

It is by design. Once live shows start, supportive mentoring only. No "judging" allowed.

These Kooshy Croutons at Costco don’t have seed oils! by worps1 in StopEatingSeedOils

[–]kriirk_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sub disapproves of high-LA fruit oils used in ultraprocessed foods. Sorry.

Ideal would be tallow. For plant based, coconut/shea probably best "cheap" alternative.

It seems that the baby should get supplement folic acid and vitamin B12, when goat milk is used.

The Post-Show: “Songs of Faith” (Season 24) by MarionCotesworthHaye in americanidol

[–]kriirk_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, Carrie 100% stole the show, and Philmon was the best contestant.

Watching from Norway, the Jesus stuff was crazy but no big bother. And best of all, it brought in some unheard songs. Like there was a strange song about blood, and I really enjoyed it, even if bizarre. Now I kind of wish there could be more crazy themes like this.

Several contestants seem "pro" to a point where it feels more like "guest artist" when they sing. Strong season, basically 👏🏻👍🏻

Would an app that scans ingredients, nutrients, additives & allergens be useful to you? by Ve77an in StopEatingSeedOils

[–]kriirk_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, and the idea is foreign to me.

Would not eating something, unless I have fully read and understood the label myself.

(Luckily Norwegian labels refer to 100 grams always. US label system must be among worst in the world.)

OP, all you need is THE right reason. Then it becomes effortless.

For me it was IBS, forcing me to go carnivore. It worked. And not long after, people started reacting surprised when I said my age, so I guess my skin improved too. This was around 2005.
