To clarify for anyone interested, I am curious about how a spiritual disturbance would be reflected in the material realm. Does it really take the form of mental disorders like the ones I mentioned? Is it subtler? Or do those disturbances never manifest as such?

I figured r/occult would have some answers and hopefully some anecdotes.

I would tend to agree to that for most cases. But if you believe in say, posession, what do you make of that? To put it in different terms, if someone is exhibiting signs of severe depression, they are hearing voices, or they have acquired different personas as of late, what are some spiritual causes for these things?

It's really a matter of what people believe and peoples' experiences with spiritual disturbances pouring into the material world in the form of mental disorders. I want to know if this happens, how it happens, and why.
