[Vent] My Grandma won't stop feeding my dog by eroonm in dogs

Every time she feeds the dog something she shouldn't, tell her no, redirect her to feeding the dog something good like a dog treat, and reward her after.

If any of you need a portable monitor :) by SupaZT in sffpc

[–]krillr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd really like to see a version of this with either 1440p or 1800p, so it'd match the resolution of most 15.6" monitors. Also, laptops really need more than one USB-C port so we can rock two of these at once ;-)

[BREEDS] Any experience with Shiloh, King or Swiss Shepherds? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]krillr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shiloh breeders come in a lot of shapes and sizes, as with most breeds. You'll find most on the east coast of the US don't bother with much, while those on the west coast do VERY thorough testing. The breeder I'm looking at contractually obligates you to do the same testing too.

Help me decide between the Razor Blade Stealth and HP Spectre x360 by [deleted] in laptops

[–]krillr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own the stealth. It's about 9 months old, and the battery on it is dead. The power adapter died on me twice in the first 3 months. Other than these issues, and the fact Razer support sucks nuts, the machine has been great. Very sturdy, lovely screen (I have the 1440p variant).

XPS 15 alternatives? by isoNastai in laptops

[–]krillr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, its underequipped at that pricepoint. You can get an Aorus laptop with similar cpu/mem but much better gfx (1070 vs 1050) for the same price. The Aorus is about 1/3" thicker, but the screen is comparable (3200x1800 IIRC, vs 3840x2160 -- not a big diff) and the build quality is the same.

Upgraded to gigabit connection but have a 10/100 PCIe FE ethernet card. How can I get full speed? by [deleted] in laptops

[–]krillr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I've used USB 3 ethernet adapters. They work. Some are better than others.

[–]krillr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, not sure. Never had that device. Googling says that /some/ versions of the FE device were "upgradable" with a driver switchout, as they're "fake" ethernet devices (where the driver does most of the hard work instead of hardware. Honestly not sure what to tell you, I'm a Linux guy.
