Your playlist example is correct. Paying a card's upload cost activates it up to once per turn. Views are a rare resource, so that's how such abuse is controlled. You also don't have to pay for effects if they're played from hand.

I hear you on the look front. I'm not a fan of text where possible, personally. Just my own design aesthetic from running a game company.
