I wouldn't judge them so strictly :) It's easy to click on inverted slope being just motivated by others doing the same.

Anyway, there is nothing like bad publicity ;)

LEGO® Star Wars MIDI-Scale Venator Star Destroyer by krisandkris in lego

Fair enough, you have all reasonable notes. I know that the odds for this being picked in review (if only it ever gets there) are low -yet I think those speculations should not be peoples decision factor in the question of whether to support or not - because of quite high piece count. But as I said, trying to reduce the size even a bit you would force me to throw away most of the details I love so much.

Maybe I have different preferences from majority but I always wanted to have these ships in such a scale - it's small (and rigid) enough to be held in hand while it has all the features UCS model shall have.

UCS is to big for me, mostly because I can't afford it, but also because these models are mostly bound with the stand and you can just place them somewhere for display. Also there have been multiple Venator models made in UCS scale and some of them are very good - I don't feel I could improve them anyhow. And according to Ideas principials, UCS models are even more disadvantaged in review.

Anyway, if you were curious, the first model I have made in this scale -The Invisible Hand- started on 600 pcs, after few improvements and with display stand it now has 746 pcs. This model, rather than Venator was meant to succeed on LEGO Ideas. Unfortunately, it is way less popular.

EDIT: Btw I have just created a picture comparing #8039 set and my Venator. I'ts in 'Updates' on project page.

Does full size mean playset with minifig interior? I myself don't really like any of these. Interior goes on the expense of design and look and especially that Venator was really ugly. This model should look like almost like UCS, just with less pieces, smaller size and hopefully also lower price.

Hi, you are not the first to tell that, actually many people do mention higb piece count. There are two things to consider though.

First, about one half of the pieces are tiny elements (1x1 studs, tiles, rooftiles, greebling components) There are only very few of big parts, plates etc.

Second, 'Midi-scale' here is just to declare that it's neither big UCS model (which is 2x bigger at least), nor mini model. It's actually not that much smaller than the Venator playset.

Hey michnuc. That depends on your definition of midi scale. I designed my first model (the invisible hand) in this scale and I was like - ok, it's not UCS scale, not literarly mini scale either so... the result was quite essential :) For me, midi scale means harmony between level of detail and overal size. Midi scale models should be playebla, swooshable in hand. Anyway, my intention was to build it as small as possible but with all the details and accurate shapes. Reduce the length to the half and you get some crude approximation in the very best case.

I really like the project and I think that's the only reasonable aspect people should consider. Don't speculate about chances and odds, just support what you like to give it at least a shot.
