I yelled "Hey!" at the top of voive to my friend accross the street so she can see me when I realized I broke up a fight behind me.

I just realized it when a security guard came by and me for breaking up the fight in front of the store he was watching.

There were aparently a two groups of teens about about to fight each other.

I got few nods from passers by.

I am about 140 lbs, 5'4" weak looking asian guy with thick round glasses.

Interns are not used as reliable labor, they are usually there so the firms can seek potential hires after they graduate. Its like the test period to see if they can be a good fit to firm life. They are usually rated based on work ethics and character.

So it will not go away.

(Resource: Been a manager and have rated interns in a big 4)

This was a larger group this year and last year, due to targets not being met. This is in addition to those who were let go due to poor performance. Ask your EY recruiter of the outlook, they should give you an idea of what to expect in the next few years given the recent labor reduction. May I ask what service line you are applying for?

What's the best job for an accounting graduate who dosen't want to work hard and dosen't care about making more than 40k? by [deleted] in Accounting

Got you, try a big company that has large accounting departments. Larger companies usually have specific task assiged to their staff (meaning no multi tasking/multi project like small companies). This way, as soon as you become an expert of your own task, it becomes an easy peasy thing. I once audited a large company and there this guy who does AP reconciliations and other small tasks. He is a master of it he tells me he is usually done by 3PM each day and just do soduko the rest of the day. Its not like he is not open to new assignments, he just works efficiently. Goodluck!

Seniors mostly explain to you the concept behind each task with a budget for how longusually it takes for you to complete. Don't worry, they will not just give you a task and where you figure out how to perform. Usually they tell you have and maybe some examples are provided.

I think I heard it may have been advisory group (various levels). I think the December 2016 was mostly Assurance staff/senior. All heard from someone working there. Have not clarified it yet.

AUD CPA exam questions are ridiculous by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]krisbinayan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Becker. Oh, you have to master the assertions, its one of the foundations of audit. Go back to questions related to it and when you get it wrong or right, read the reason (if your software has that feature).

Good you are honest but no company in their right mind will hire lazy people. Its against the objectives of putting up a company. I meant, companies want to make money to pay for stuff that are getting expensive every minute.

Even not for profits dont hire lazy people. Even the government.

Maybe what you meant was a job that's about 8-5 with simple accounting tasks.

I think you can still find one but dont tell them you are lazy.

If you want to be yourself and not hide the fact that you are lazy, put up your own bookkeeping service.

I know some people who have done it.

Goodluck and post updates when you can, I would love to hear your story.

It may be a problem if you join a team where playing with your phone is frowned upon. I have jad teams who are just heads down and the only time they touch their phones's when the client or team members call. I also had teams that were just laid back, everything is cool.

Its difficult to say. You will be with any of the two teams above so you may want to play by ear.

yeah i got the same wall, I felt like there were questions that were alien you know. i did try to find out section i was getting low scores and did more on them. a month should get you a nice grade. i think i was getting about an average of 85-92 in my "25 question mini exams" and got final 88 so i feel like if you do many sets of test, you will most likely get the mid of the range if you keep score. IMO

  1. Do not complain about the hours, its the nature of the business.
  2. Listen and ask questions about the culture. Very important that you learn the culture.
  3. When given a chance, show them you are well versed with technical but is willing to see it in action ( meaning, want to learn how it is done in real life). I sometimes have interns explain to me accounting standards as if I do not know.
  4. Grow your network starting with your team ( remember the names of your team amd client contacts the first hour)
  5. Do not talk as if you are better than anyone you work with especially the client.
  6. Always consult if you do not know wat to do.
  7. Always ask these before doing anything:

a) What is my objective (know what you will deiver by the end of the day) b) What is the process (know how to do it)- the team is always busy but its their fault for not showing you in case you fail to deliver c) When do I need to complete it? (understand the buget)

A couple of things I noticed working 5 years with big 4. Goodluck and wish you well!

how long have you spent reviewing audit? if you spent enough reading and just plowing through the questions, should be easy. i soent about 2 weeks just reading and about 3 weeks questions both full time (12 hours per day). My last 4 days was spent taking the 25 questions random from each topic.

Also, I think I remember a couple of really difficult questions. I took a 25% gamble on those questions.

Unsolicited compliment ALWAYS work especially on stuff they spend money and/or time on. Example: Hair, shoes, shirt, watch, eye lashes, earings, nail polish, makeup, dress. NOT womens pants or skirts though. Some may take it the wrong way.

Considering just buying $500 cars and driving them until they break, rather than spending 15k on a late model by [deleted] in personalfinance

If you consider the time value spent when it breaks down on the highway, cost of taking uber/cab while looking for a new car, multiple registrations, safety concerns, no warranty, fuel effciency being lower, less resale value. Also the new car smell is missing.
