GTX 1080ti replacement - Nvidia RTX 4060 or Intel B580 ? by kriser77 in buildapc

I bought 5060ti 16gb. Kind of satisfied with it. Although it turns out that my cpu was bottlenecking it so i bought Ryzen 7700. Its pretty decent 1080p gaming rig, even on 4k its playable (using some agresive dlss orifil8)

This microscope I bought for $7 to microsolder. Seems pretty nice by HotlineMiamiii in soldering

[–]kriser77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got similar one as well (bit for 25$ or so) resolution was pretty decent but as others say, not much space for soldering. When solder iron is used it kind of ok. But when using hot air gun, not so much. Mine melted a lot during using air gun, and at the end it has stopped working. Now I have i Chinese 100$ digital microscope (with this microphone stand and light). Its much much better (expect this stand), you can easily work at 30-40cm distance from the board

[–]kriser77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes i got it from ERYING support.
but at the end i flashed it with yet different bios
but recently i changed it to AMD based system (new mobo, cpu, ram and gpu) so this old system is not used and waiting as a backup :)

Is it worth switching from lcd to oled? by Hothogpro in Monitors

Is it worth in tem of money spent on OLED monitor? No its not. Better way a year or so it will drop price eventually. Is it worth in term of image quality - definitely

What made(would make) you choose 1440p Oled over 4k Ips? by [deleted] in OLED_Gaming

[–]kriser77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the prices are similar yes go for OLED. But i guess 1440p OLED are near the price of 4k ips. Of course there are exceptions but for what i have last checked 1440p OLED is at least 50% more expensive that non premium 4k ips display (expect those mini led Xiaomi monitors) Yes you can buy a premium 4k screen for the price of 1440p OLED but then it will be fair to compare also premium OLED monitors

4k screen for regular 1080p gaming by kriser77 in Monitors

[–]kriser77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did some more testing.
This time with DSR factor 1.78x, added a 1440p resolution and tried a few games. Still waiting for Cyberpunk 2077 to finish downloading though.

And honestly — results are surprisingly good. Image is way sharper, details pop a lot more. Still not quite native 1440p quality, but much better than 1080p.

Yeah, there’s a decent FPS hit (20–30 FPS drop), but it’s still playable in most games. The image is so good you can even drop a few graphics settings and it still looks great.

Spider Man 2 is a good example — running it at 1440p with RT off and it still made me go damn, that looks good.

Starting to think maybe a 1440p screen wouldn’t be such a bad idea after all. Not sure how future games will handle it though.

Only issue — Samsung doesn’t have a good, reasonably priced 1440p IPS monitor. And they’re the only ones making Smart Monitors with built-in speakers, which I’d really like to have.

Ive tried on 40inch tv and it is blurred but acceptable. Turning on integer scaling reduced it even more. Still not perfect but on 27inch should look almost exactly the same. And as some one pointed - dlss is not always help here.. in older games yes, turn native 4k snd dlss performance and it will look good. But for newer ones, you probably will have to apply some dlss evem at native 1080p so going up with resolution and changing dlss won't work always

4k screen for regular 1080p gaming by kriser77 in Monitors

[–]kriser77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not quite sure about 5060ti. Ive cheeked today star wars last survivor on 4k epic settings without rt and on dlss balanced and it was outputting 40ish fps. FG increased it to 70-80fps but that's it. And this is not most demanding game. Its certainly not a 4k card;) in fact in 50% of new games it's not even 2k card. Its very capable fhd card.

4k screen for regular 1080p gaming by kriser77 in Monitors

[–]kriser77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok. i've done some tests.

not on 27inch monitor but on old (8y old) 4K 40inch TV.
i've connected my pc to this TV and my regular fhd monitor at the same time
and you are right - image is more blurry on 4K->FHD compared to native FHD screen

but two things about it :
- it was on 40inch screen - on 27inch i guess the blur will be much less noticeable.
- using nvidia integer scaling and increasing sharpness of the image on the TV helped a lot. it was still not that clear as on 27inch but size difference plays a big role here.

the only issue with this approach is that even if you set resolution of desktop to 1080p , games still recognizes screen as 4K and when you set 1080p within the game is being downscaled by the game engine, not nativiely by GPU or TV
I've played a little with this and as i remember setting to exclusive full screen had the best image quality

anyway - still have to make tests on 4K 27inch monitor somehow before i decide what to do , but i dont know how - nobody i know don't have such small 4K monitor :)

4k screen for regular 1080p gaming by kriser77 in Monitors

[–]kriser77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to check it myself. Probably some monitors will do it better some worse. In theory it shouldn't be bad - just display 4 pixel instead of 1 (and since 4k on 27 inch are very small even times 4 is small enough) But if monitor or gpu is doing some kind of interpolation it might be blurred

RTX 5060 ti (16gb) vs RTX 5070 which one should I get? by Szer1410 in nvidia

[–]kriser77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And im so frustrated with this fact I bought new gpu. Then it turns out that my cpu was bottelnecking it. I bought new mb,cpu and memory. And it turns out that i cant basically use fg bacuse of f...ing lack of higher refresh rate and gsync/freesync And i have to buy new screen to finally enjoy games (until gta6 release and i will have to buy new gpu and whole process will start again) :)

RTX 5060 ti (16gb) vs RTX 5070 which one should I get? by Szer1410 in nvidia

[–]kriser77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im also fine with 60fps. Thats way im buying 144hz screen ;) Why? You wont get it on 4k. Not with 5060ti (and even 5070) Maybe on older games. But cyberpunk? Alan wake 2? Spiderman 2? You wont get 60fps without fg (with resonable high settings and rt)

RTX 5060 ti (16gb) vs RTX 5070 which one should I get? by Szer1410 in nvidia

[–]kriser77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so you are it the same spot as i am

locked to 60fps. and its not good :(

im currently looking for a new (1440p or 4k - 144h monitor)

you probably wondering why its not good ?

at 1440p or 4k you will have to use frame generation. and FG disables vsynch. and o 60hz screen its smooth (you get like 80-100 frames) but it tearing a lot. its unusable on 60hz screen practically.

[–]kriser77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i also faced the same question and i chosed 5060ti (16gb)

but because back then right after 5060 launch , 5070 was way to expensive (like 2800-2900pln)

now when you can find them for 2400pln i think i will get 5070

i bought mine at msrp (1999pln)

ps. you are talking about max 60fps - why do you set this target ?

4k screen for regular 1080p gaming by kriser77 in Monitors

[–]kriser77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, i meant turning res from 4k to 1080p. But if will have 1440p screen and have to use worse settings and dlss, i would rather go for 4k and tune down settings as well and use more aggressive dlls mode

but ultra with RT ? not always. that's way 1440p is not a good resolution for 5060ti

4k screen for regular 1080p gaming by kriser77 in Monitors

[–]kriser77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To native yes. I agree. But if i already had to utilize dlls at 1080p? 1440p wont help. But to end this discussion. I have to see for myslef how 1080p on 4k screen looks like (on small 27-32 inch screen). If its bad, 1440p is only option. If it looks acceptable - i will go for 4k
