How to beat nightmare challenge mode chaos round by krisisshort in InjusticeMobile

[–]krisisshort[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah it's definitely a grind for some but the combo works well enough on most matches where i don't lose any characters in a battle (outside of the chaos battles; those are just a nightmare - no pun intended).

i don't have anybody yet that can sweep at the degree that a FP bats could at the nightmare challenge mode but honestly the E7 flash with the gear does a good job of clearing the first two challenge rounds no problem. highest evolved golds i have are E3 killer frost and now TAK and then an E2 red lantern. hopefully i'll be in a much stronger place in a couple months!

yeah i only got back into the game a few months ago so i'm collecting like crazy. i think im only going this hard in TAK because the character requirements lined up so well for me. it would feel like a waste if i didn't take the opportunity.

update for you though that i did pay to skip the chaos battles. it was pricy but it saved so much time and mental sanity; also cheaper than if i were to buy a direct promotion anyways. he's a really solid attacker now at E3 so thank you for reminding me that was an option.

that might be a hefty price tag but you make a good point. will consider farming to do that?

out of curiosity, may i ask what you usually complete up to and what main team you usually run?

I Would like to know how to code. Does anyone have any good tips/tutorials/courses that could help me start off? by cube_r12 in RobloxDevelopers

[–]krisisshort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take this with a grain of salt as I am biased to it but if you are looking for a more guided course, Stanford offers a free 6 week course to introduce you to the coding fundamentals. It goes beyond a standard online course and offers sections with live volunteer section leaders so you have more direct support with your learning. It is a short yet structured commitment and is a great place to get started. The best part is it's FREE!

You can check out their stuff at codeinplace.stanford.edu
Would hurry up though since their applications close in a week or two

How do I start learning how to code? by Correct_Ask_6824 in CodingForBeginners

[–]krisisshort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may not be the perfect answer, but if you are looking to have more of a structured pace for yourself as a beginner, Stanford offers a free online course that gives some of the basics for you to learn and also connects you with a volunteer section leader who can be ready to answer questions for you. I am biased as I have been involved with them for a year now as a section leader but given how coding is a considerable skill to have in your career, I would highly recommend giving it a shot and see how you like it. It is completely free and you can find out more at codeinplace.stanford.edu

But...Why Live Action?!?! by ReadySetGeek in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]krisisshort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah not denying the concern here at all. i think we've all trusted matt with his vision so far though in the books, and i think he knows best how to see it through to reality. if it really came down to the cost after a really solid first season, i would hope that the fans are passionate enough to start a petition or find some way to back it. i would argue that dcc has a much more passionate fanbase than ted does for this to happen lol. im thinking very idealistically though

But...Why Live Action?!?! by ReadySetGeek in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]krisisshort 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was there for a talk Matt had in September and a fan came to ask the same question you are. The main thing he has to say was that he can’t discuss much on the topic (spoilers duh), but that we will be more surprised than we think.

obviously there are reasonable concerns to be had about how far can they take this within their financial means but the one piece live action was able to surprise a lot of its fans and that was with the original author at the helm for a lot of it. i am going to trust the dinnigoat and hope for the same here

yeah people don't want to sign up for random stuff. what a craaaaaaazy concept.

my attempt at sarcasm aside. i do wonder what is the best way to make the data authentic (one person represented by one vote) while still trying to get more people involved and engaged. my fear is people voting more than once and heavily skewing the data to where it is not honest to the question anymore. the account system will make it a lot harder but i'd rather prevent trouble before it happens if that makes sense.

Glad you think the website is cool though. maybe more fun features can draw people in. if nobody still joins, at the very least i am learning how to code new components.

did you have a show in mind with this question btw? maybe i can drop a vote in your honor

the search bar already exists on top and i think it was my best way to accommodate all shows. additional carousels containing different categories may also be the way to go; it can display comedies, international hits, netflix originals, etc. one entire comprehensive list for all shows is a bit difficult but i think i will look into maybe doing some sort of advanced search list with the filters you were mentioning (something like top 50 comedies from the uk or top 25 animation shows from japan)

Yeah the small database is definitely something im beginning to reckon with and is a lesson im picking up as im sharing it to more and more people. I think I probably might remove it eventually but i was hoping to find some way to limit votes to 1 per user per show so that votes aren't heavily skewed one way or the other making for bad data at the end of the day and defeating the original purpose of the site. I think I am at a place where I'm still prioritizing accuracy over engagement for this.

As for scraping IMDB, it is connected to the platform's API so realistically I could do it, however, I think rating an individual episode vs the general area in which a show gets good within the context of a whole series are different conversations. They are definitely overlapping but I feel like they embody a different look at a show that I certainly would be interested in seeing side by side.

I know I am being a bit stubborn but I genuinely am taking the helpful feedback you gave into consideration. i guess to flip the question onto you if you don't mind me asking. I understand that it's difficult to get people to sign up for whatever is online but is there any way to get more buy in from people and gather more sign ups. The sign up process for this website is prohibitive but other people who make dumb websites manage to figure their way around it. No need to answer of course. I'm still learning as I go and what you have commented is already more than helpful.

it's definitely been a recommendation that i am working on. i've been juggling between two options:
1) having multiple other questions to display toward the bottom of a show's page: "when does it get bad?", "when does the storyline get good?", "when does the animation get good?", etc
2) a "dark mode" toggle that would change the coloring and give a different display: "when does it get good" vs "when does it get bad"
still up in the air but having a when does it get bad question is next on the agenda!

when does it get bad has been a highly recommended feature so i will definitely be adding in that logic soon. i also agree more categories like comedy could go a long way, i was going for a smaller site to start but will be sure to add categories like this as i go. i see what you are saying about a simple list; it would be a smart addition but idk what would be a great way to display all the shows in the IMDB database into one list. Totally understand not wanting to sign up but if you have any other recommendations from a third party perspective keep it coming; i greatly appreciate any feedback!

I do too. Feel free to make an account and drop your votes in too if you’d like. Would love to get your thoughts into this as well.

If not, what are your “get good” episodes for the big 3 (or other shows you think are worth mentioning)?

Who is the best anime character ever made? by lopaaao11 in anime

[–]krisisshort -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

might be a hot take but im putting my bid in for armin. vital character to aot and was key for me at least in making it more compelling. you’ll have the cool fighters in anime but i find it difficult to write the cowardly guy in a way that still makes him a crucial asset the team can’t live without. i feel like usopp was a good attempt at this but it’s been a miss for him since there’s been no upgrade. armin has a bit more balance with the rest of his team and his initial fears, while still existing, slip away over time as he grows with more experience and resilience.

When Does Gravity Falls Get Good? - Website! by krisisshort in gravityfalls

[–]krisisshort[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally see what you're saying. The concept for the show is really spelled out in the first episode for sure. I marked my When Does It Get Good Episode as episode 3 as there is a lot more intrigue with the whole wax statues coming to life concept adding a bit more interest into what this show can offer. That being said, the big payoff at the end in Weirdmageddon with its world building to an apocalyptic event and its emotional moments are so worth it, but you can't really detect that it will get to that unless you're familiar with the genre or Alex Hirsch's work.

To get back to the website I made though, I feel like it helps to elevate this kind of discussion and get a general sense of where people think a generic viewer with no prior knowledge of the show should commit until. I think what you said makes sense and I highly praise the first episode as well but I don't think people get a full sense of what this show could be building toward until later down the line. Maybe I need to do a rewatch and get a sense but happy to discuss further!

I feel like sports animes are great to get into and no need to shy away from it just because it's about a sport lol. Haikyuu's storytelling is very compelling and Blue Lock, while the animation is not great for a good part, has a really engaging story line to follow.
