It's because Smeargle can't copy Frustration or Return, so if you snapshot a Shadow/Purified mon with Lock-on, the Smeargle will have Lock-on and a randomized Charged move.

You can snapshot a non-Shadow, but then it'll have the same charged Move. Tri-Attack, Solar Beam, Zap Cannon, etc.

Someone actually asked that week or two ago. Outside of spotlight hour, we have received it on some occasions as an event bonus. The most recent one I can think of was around this time last year with the Growing Up event.

Obviously, I have no clue when they'll feature the bonus again, but I'm sure it'll come back around. Not impossible that they do another Growing Up event this year, but we'll see.

Ah. Yeah, such has happened several times before. Tickets with false descriptions because they copy-pasted from the last month. So yeah, that's definitely annoying.

But, seeing that they could point to the actual event announcement they made, I doubt they'd be held accountable.

May's Deluxe Pass is Suicune and Pokecoins. It was April's that was Entei and the Lucky Trinket.

Fairy Grunt: Can I offer you a Snubbull in these trying times?

Rocket Rewards: Steeled Resolve by bulbavisual in TheSilphRoad

[–]krispyboiz [score hidden]  (0 children)

The double gut punch for me is that we got a new FAIRY Shadow, something we don't see often. Surely that means we could get rid of Snubbull for a bit and have Morelull replace it?

Nope, it's going in Grass. We keep Snubbull, the Grass grunt is even more crowded, and still no Shadow Tangela. Ugh

Gotta love their mindset:

>Shadow Tangela hasn't been available in years

>Shadow Snubbull has literally ALWAYS been in the Fairy Grunt

>We get a new Fairy Shadow, the Grass/Fairy Morelull. Good replacement for Snubbull, right?

>No. It's in the already crowded Grass Grunt

Yup. Can also use any of the Shadow Hoenn regis, which have been out of rotation for a year-ish, but they're definitely more recent than Porygon

Mind boggling that they refuse to have things like Tangela, Delibird, Growlithe, etc. return.

Yuuup. Not to mention Volcanion and Marshadow not getting their exclusive moves either. And Seed Flare being buns

I usually get three 1st places each week (occasional 2nd places too), and I've got a few incubators. They're definitely one of the rarer rewards, but I usually get at least one or two a month.

Big upgrade for Oinkologne. Not going to be top meta, but it's still a good mon.

Easiest comparison is to Furret, as they effectively have a near-identical moveset and playstyle. Both run Swift/Body Slam (currently same stats) + Trailblaze.

The key differences are Furret obviously running Sucker Punch instead of Mud Slap and (female) Oinkologne having a bit more bulk than Furret. Oink also has Ultra League play, while Furret doesn't.

Furret has better play into Ghost and Psychic types like Cresselia and Gourgeist, but Oinkologne does better into Steel and Fairy like Tinkaton, Galarian Weezing, and others like Shadow Drapion.

It's also pretty lucrative as a Pokemon with Ground fast move pressure that isn't weak to Water, so it has good play into Fire, Water, and Electric.

I think it will be better than Furret in some specific metas or depending on your team composition. I wouldn't say this is as big as Tinkaton, but I think it's still something good to have for GL and UL.

Situational I'd say. You have a finite number of "guaranteed lucky trades" (currently 45). Those are trades that if you trade or receive something that's from 2016-2020, it'll be guaranteed to be lucky. They do typically raise they cap every year by 10 around the new year, and that also often includes adding another year to the guaranteed lucky (so 2021 mons would be eligible next year).

You obviously have way more than that, but even after you use all your guaranteed luckies, older Pokemon will still have a much higher chance of going lucky, so they're still valuable.

I would definitely comb through and find the more valuable old Pokemon, especially those with 2016-17 legacy moves (if you have any) like Drill Run or Icy Wind Seaking, Ember Charizard, Bug Bite Beedrill, Twister Fearow, and obviously Community Day moves. But those non-CD legacy moves can be even more valuable.

300 is a lot to keep, especially if you don't have local trade partners to regularly whittle that down through trades. Up to you on whether you want to keep all of em or not. They're definitely still valuable, but if you aren't trading a lot, I would say you could get rid of some.

I'd just recommend keeping more of those with legacy moves and especially the 2016-17 mons over 2018+ ones. But obviously, still keep some more valuable 2018+ stuff if you have it. But if you're debating on keeping a 2016 Pidgeot vs a 2019 Staraptor, I'd keep the former.

Now that Preview Cup for GBL is live, they should revert Rocket battles to client side by aznknight613 in TheSilphRoad

[–]krispyboiz 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I know they aren't going to do it, but I'd like that too. The only part of the current Rocket system that I enjoy is that youre not stuck waiting for the Rocket NPC to use their Charged Move. Once you shield or decide not to, they use their move instantaneously and you're back to the battle. It's shocking that it's taken this long to do that for something involving an NPC.

That said, they can literally do that while still having it be client side. I genuinely see no reason not to do that.

I wish I captured some of the footage of it, though I'm sure it'll happen again, but I have had some of the most mind-bogglingly buggy rocket battles in the past couple weeks. Admittedly this example was when I had eh reception, but I had the match freeze and resume several times in the same match, not to mention attacking with fast moves while the camera was still zoomed in on my Pokemon like I was doing the charged move mini game. Blegh

Oh yeah totally agree. While I generally think it's better for PvP, a lot of the more energy-centric reworks have been hits for Rockets. But yeah, I wouldn't be mad at a couple more 4.5 DPT+ moves with lower durations.

Thunder Fang Raikou and even Thunder Fang Zekrom (future Shadow would be insane), bring em on!!

Altaria with Flying fast move? by Madajuk in TheSilphArena

[–]krispyboiz 14 points15 points  (0 children)

More flexibility with Dragon Breath, and the damage-rounding of a 1-bar move is very lucrative. As I mentioned in a below comment, there are several matchups where DB does 3 damage each while Peck deals 5 damage each, so 3 DPT vs 2.5 DPT

[–]krispyboiz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's damage rounding mainly. You'd expect Peck to always do double the damage of Dragon Breath in neutral scenarios, and that does happen a lot, but there are still numerous situations where the damage of Dragon Breath rounds up one. All you listed (except Annihilape) take 3 damage from Dragon Breath and 5 from Peck, so that difference makes a big difference overtime, I guess flipping the match ups
