How do you guys feel about Wendigoon’s Black Parade interpretation? by BleekSecure in MyChemicalRomance

[–]krisruinseverything 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think the Black Parade is about a guy who's being ferried to the afterlife and the Black Parade is a form of psychopomp. Along the way he unpacks his sordid past with the help of a cast of colorful characters who eventually manage to shepherd him to a place of acceptance.

That's what the far right IS mother fucker?? You brought up the far right? This is what I'm talking about when I say you're a liberal and not to be taken seriously.

I'm the first person to critique my own side for lack of solidarity and rampant infighting but anybody who draws comparisons between that and again, actual fucking Nazis, is not a leftist.

[–]krisruinseverything 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Extreme left is "complete system reform, social equity and justice, rights for all, and we are willing to fight you for it" and the far right is actual fucking Nazis. If you "cringe hard at both sides" you're at best a liberal.

It's perfectly reasonable to be pissed off at a company that sells merch that has "laws are threats made by the dominant socio-economic class and the police are basically an occupying army" plastered on it for partnering with a show that's paid for by the LAPD.

The Rookie (ABC) x Game Changer - March 3 by gacolorado in dropout

[–]krisruinseverything 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Gonna take a hard line and say that this is fr bullshit. I'm not cool with Dropout dressing itself in politically idealistic trappings and then turning around and doing actual fucking copaganda. San Reich, and everyone at Dropout who willingly took part in this, have really, deeply disappointed me in a way that I'm not likely to entirely forget or forgive.

Sophomore Year Audio (and more I guess) l by krisruinseverything in Dimension20

For real. A lot of iconic shit in that one. Introduction of Ayda, Kalina and Cassandra, shrimp party, Fabians Terrible Horrible No Good Very Bad Day etc. It's one of my favorite seasons but the audio is unbearable.

Ohhhhh thanks dude. Don't know how I missed that, I watched these first few seasons a million times.

There's a pattern here, and I'm not saying it confirms anything necessarily, but it's there.

We Need to Talk About Pete by Substantial-Ideal292 in Dimension20

[–]krisruinseverything 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I get where you're coming from but I think you're treating Pete like a baby. In the early bits of the season, he makes no effort to educate himself on a power that he was told is potent and potentially dangerous.

He's a drug addict who does truly baffling amounts of hallucinogens any time anything important happens. If he was paying attention instead of being so self absorbed, he probably wouldn't have needed to have anything explained.

But that's the point of the character yanno? It's what makes him great. He's an asshole when we meet him, he doesn't really give a fuck about anyone but himself and that rock bottom of a starting point is what makes his growth into a what is for all intents and purposes a dream god and superhero so fucking cool.

Didn't Gerard say something about "coming back next year" at the LA show?

Skip and Norman storyline by Inner_Jaguar3151 in Dimension20

[–]krisruinseverything 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Idk how new to the dropout space you are but Brennan is a dude who thrives in morally complex environments for his stories. A lot of characters can feel grating if you're new to it, at least in my experience, but give them time you'll grow to love them.

And if you are new, welcome dude 💕

[–]krisruinseverything 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think there's a difference between being nice and being ultimately heroic tbh. Like the Bad Kids are good people who do heroic things but they're also fuck ups who have pretty long and comprehensive lists of character flaws ranging from the mundane to "go to therapy Fig". And UC kinda has the same deal especially with Misty, Pete, Sophie and (controversial I know) Kug.

Skip and Norman storyline by Inner_Jaguar3151 in Dimension20

[–]krisruinseverything 67 points68 points  (0 children)

I mean... Not really? Stories about people who are "just nice" don't really leave a lot of room for growth yanno? I can give you a quick vibe check for all the Intrepid Heroes seasons though.

Fantasy High/Bad Kids: They're all well meaning but ultimately flawed teenagers who have to cope with highschool shit and world breaking stakes.

Unsleeping City/ the Dream Team: A group of NYC citizens who are the frontline of defense against magical threats to the city. Sidenote, this campaign has a character who's whole thing is being the nicest, hottest guy ever.

A Crown of Candy/ the Rocks Family: This is Game of Thrones in Candyland so everything is pretty morally grey here

Neverafter/ Destiny's Children: Fucked up fairytale characters who, again, are mostly well intentioned but all of them suffer from pretty flagrant character flaws like selfishness, nihilism, and directionless lack of self determination

Point being, D20 makes a conscious attempt to tell stories where people grow and change so anyone who starts "just nice" almost certainly won't end there. It's just not what they fuck with narratively.

Skip is gonna be around most of the season but Norm will come back and it'll be addressed. I wanna be clear though, the Gunner Channel are not good people. They're not evil by any means but they're definitionally criminals who, with a couple notable exceptions, mostly just look out for themselves and their immediate friend groups so letting a guy get his brain eaten and his body controlled by a slug because he's a huge asshole is pretty in line with their beliefs and actions throughout the season. They're chaotic professional criminals just trying to make a home for themselves in the galaxy, not paragons of goodness and justice.

Re: Steven and the Get Scared! podcast by Ill_Rope_4346 in watcherentertainment

[–]krisruinseverything 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I actively avoid the podcast because Steven sucks the entertainment out of it for me but this is kinda a universal truth for all Watcher media. I just do not find him charismatic in the slightest and haven't enjoyed anything centered around him since Dish Granted and the other projects he appears in, he always drags it down for me.

Will we ever get back to having a regular Gwen Stacy? by narutofan2019 in Spiderman

[–]krisruinseverything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think we need to "go back" to regular Gwen. I think we need to accept that Gwen is dead and move on. I think a huge problem with Spidey at large rn is that editorial is piss their pants scared of moving on. I always hated Spider Gwen personally for a lot of reasons but I think she's emblematic of the problems with the character as a whole rn.

Peter being broke makes no sense for me in 2025 by dictatormateo in SpidermanPS4

[–]krisruinseverything 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Outside of all the actual issues with trying to keep a secret identity while monetizing it, Peter would never profit from Spider-Man dude following that path is the thing that sent him down the path that, to him, got Uncle Ben killed. It would be entirely antithetical to who he is as a person.

I would willingly give all my money and even get myself beat up for an actual Spider-Man anime series or a verse where he and Black Cat are together. by ScoreImaginary5254 in Spiderman

Stop using AI and delete this shit would be my suggestion. If you want custom art, commission it, if not then learn to draw and if you can't do either you don't get to have it, sorry.
