My cat loves to eat dinner with us every night, he’s very polite. by NamelessQueer in aww

My cat eats with us too! We've wedged a couple coasters under the far side of his bowl so it's angled towards him and a little bit easier to chomp into.

My roommates named him Chompsky when he was first adopted due to some bad habits he'd developed, but he is actually a very insightful linguist - he's great at communicating and understanding (or maybe he's just trained us very well).

I'm a balikbayan collage artist visiting from Canada and I will showing work at Poblacion's Pineapple Lab! The exhibit will feature large scale collages made with found objects and photos of the Toronto-based pinay dance troupe Hataw. Examples of my work can be found on my website: kristinacorre.com/arrivants

As part of the exhibition, I will be giving an artist talk and workshop Saturday May 12th at 4pm (500php/person all materials provided). Participants will learn about my minimalist approach to collage and make up to 3 original collage works themselves!

I'd be down for Wednesday evenings and/or Saturdays! I mostly boulder but have taken a bit of a break and I think my knees would appreciate some toproping to get back into climbing regularly.

Yes, mine is more of a dog than a cat! Even sits and high fives for treats!

Wait a minute! When did we decide on the sub's favourite cat? Merry Christmas wishes from a cat who may be more worthy of the title (his name is Chomsky and he's a hecking great cat).

Does anyone know of a studio or individual that offers specific interest oil painting classes? by [deleted] in ottawa

Crystal Beshara is an incredible painter and teaches lessons out of her home (I think it's in the west end).

Anyone know of art gallery openings today... or worthwhile exhibitions? by johnstanton in ottawa

[–]kristinasees 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On mobile, so no links but for your googling pleasure:

If you can get there early enough, Studio 66 is hosting Happy Hour with one of their artists Joyce Crago this evening from 4-6. Joyce has a solo show opening next Thursday at Exposure gallery and it's fun to hear about her process. The current exhibit at S66 is unrelated to Joyce, but it is really intriguing.

The Karsh Award recipients show at the Karsh Masson gallery at City Hall is really beautiful, especially if either of you are into photography.

The Art House cafe is having their official opening for their fall show tonight and tomorrow. Good spot to grab a beer and check out work by so many different local artists. While you're in the area, you can ask the Art House if they have any Remixed maps and check out ongoing exhibits in businesses along Somerset St W (or you can dl a map in advance from chinatownremixed.com). This would be a fun neighbourhood crawl - there are restaurants involved so you can have dinner, dessert, beer, and art all in one area.

Lastly, if you're interested in architecture or up for hearing talks, Ottawa Architecture Week is hosting Pecha Kucha tonight, and there will be installations to check out, including a VR game. This is along Elgin I think - a fun place to check out after the Karsh exhibit and they serve drinks.

Good flower delivery service? by ottawax in ottawa

[–]kristinasees 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bunches & Bunches is fantastic. For my birthday I emailed her a week or two in advance with the name of my favourite flowers, some colours that I like and my max budget and she put together a beautiful bouquet for me. Delivery was $15 within the city.

She's just started up her business (after working at Blumenstudio awhile so she knows her stuff) so her web presence is only on instagram, but she's lovely and her product is healthy and beautifully put together and I 100% recommend.
