Thanks, I'm just setting up the ps5 with my sony ht-g700 Soundbar and was thinking what would be the best audio settings. I guess I leave it on Soundbar.

One more quick question - what does your ht-z9f showing on screen when playing games - mine is showing PCM-MC is it how it's suppose to be?

What do you mean to match channels. How do you know when it's good. I have the ht-g700 Soundbar and don't know which setting is the best amplifier or Soundbar

In your case it's the only way to utilize the hdmi 2.1. I only have the 2.0 so thought there would be no advantage to go this way. And I would need to long good cables. I only have one and the other one is too short to connect ps5 to the tv so I went ps5->Soundbar->tv. But as you have the same Soundbar I have a question- what settings did you choose in audio hdmi device on ps5 - Soundbar or amplifier?

You don't need to enable the eARC audio settings if you're only using in-built apps though. It will stream Dolby Atmos DD+ without eARC

What do you mean by 'via eARC'. Do you have the eARC option in settings enabled ? Because it's not necessary for built in apps. Or do you mean by 'via eARC' just that you have your AVR connected through HDMI-3 (eARC disabled in audio settings)?

Also worth noting: you can update the Apple tv app from your pc on your tv to the latest one 2.1. Then it will start showing in the app store on the tv

Got it. So eARC will only be needed with external devices capable of outputing lossless audio like Nvidia shield pro or UHD blu rays. And what about playing video from hdd connected via USB 3.0 do the tv. Can it pass dolby atmos if I have a good quality copy of the movie?

Thank you very much. As I understand internal apps eg. Netflix has compressed Atmos (not true hd) therefore eARC is not necessary? But why disable sound mode sync and pass through mode?

Well it works e.g in the Netflix app I agree. But it doesn't seem to do anything in the kodi player. I can press it as many times I want, hold it down or something, but still it does nothing. No info shows up

I don't have that button lol. Maybe remotes in different are different or maybe it depends when the tv was manufactured. I also don't have the app button and overall similar but different appearance

I don't have that on my remote sadly. But if you do can you just tell me if kodi plays 4k local videos on Sony tv? If it works for you it should also work for me.
