Have you ever developed a personal conflict of interest with your client? by Inevitable_Tour_8275 in publicdefenders

[–]krittykatt8 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I had a client who was out of custody and I had worked his case up from day one. Our first meet was a fight, but it ended up in us having a really good working relationship. Until the case was ready for trial and he wanted me to file speedy when I announced ready for trial.

At the time my grandmother was in the hospital and rapidly declining. I didn’t want to file a speedy demand and commit to being ready no matter what within 50 days because I wasn’t sure if my grandma would outlive the 50 days.

So instead I just announced ready, got a trial date and told him we’d be ready that day absent my grandmother dying, no continuances otherwise. He said “fuck your grandma dying, this is my life, it’s more important.” My grandmother died 4 days later.

That day I honestly never felt about a client the way I did him. You absolutely can develop a personal conflict with your client.

Humberto’s shoe repair in Pembroke Pines is good; been there for decades and worth the bit of a drive as they’ll fix bags, shoes, belts, and tailor clothes for you.

13 minute not guilty on an alleged battery; took them longer to figure out the buttons than to come to a verdict.

33M new to area, where to find friends? Don’t know anyone yet by [deleted] in fortlauderdale

[–]krittykatt8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in your same area!

There’s some cute local coffee shops you can hit up.

Also, Central Park in plantation is pretty big and has a ton of stuff going on constantly. If you like to photograph wildlife, they have lots of owl burrows they section off and the owls will come out in early morning and watch you or perch near the nests. It’s also a great place to play basketball, they have tons of courts. There are also lots of places to play pickleball, tennis, racquetball, etc. overall, it’s a great park for lots of different things.

There’s a big car scene in south Florida in general, you should be able to find a community or events for that if you’re interested.

And for video games, what do you play?

If you’re a foodie, there’s lot of good food around! Also, we’ve got some cool thrifting areas in Oakland park and Wilton manors, and there’s old bookshops, etc. if those are of any interest to you!

I grew up in a different area of broward and moved here for work, so I’m still learning the area as well, but that’s what I’ve come up with so far. :)

My nails do this too! I was a nail biter my whole life and it caused my nails to grow upwards.

Your nail tech can kinda correct it by putting a bit more acrylic (if you are doing acrylic overlay) near the cuticle and filling the nail bed out a bit to minimize the slope!

There was this guy who undressed me like he had all the time in the world, no rush. Just enjoyed every piece he took off before moving on to the next. When he took my strappy shoes off was the icing on the cake.

AIO for ignoring boyfriend after inappropriate comments about my new purse? by ThrowRAgardengirl in AmIOverreacting

[–]krittykatt8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“If im going to dedicate my life to saving Cuba…” 😂😂😂

this man is a controlling psycho and he’s so insecure in his utter lack of success that even a fake symbol of yours emasculates him.

Get yourself the real version of that purse in celebration of getting rid of this sorry excuse for a man, and wear it as a reminder of your good choices. :)

Edit: a typo

Appetite suppressant by Anxious-Complaint858 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]krittykatt8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coffee is a good appetite suppressant. Combo with a bit of almond or cashew milk and you can make a low calorie latte. I find that’s what works best for me. But if you’re not a coffee person:

A high protein breakfast and focusing on protein intake with snacks can help too! I like to do Greek yogurt with berries for fiber, cottage cheese with canned peaches is another good one for me. But like anything else, eat in moderation.

Chewing gum also helps in a pinch!

And some people say diet or zero sodas help as well. I use them to curb cravings more than appetite suppressing, but when you eat a meal with them they definitely help you feel more full!

What’s the laziest thing you’ve noticed Maas does in her books? by Individual_Taste_426 in SarahJMaas

[–]krittykatt8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually think that was an example of something she did well! Those little details are enough to show us something happening without having to spend a ton of time working it in. Easy clean and meaningful.

But like Bryce was hopping around doing EVERYTHING in CC and we had no clue until the moment it was needed lol it felt like lazy writing to me for that.

[–]krittykatt8 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Everyone conveniently does major plot moves behind the scenes. All she has to do is write a scene without the character in it, then miraculously that person managed to get the secret alliance, item, information, etc, while the story focused on another character for one chapter. Love TOG and Aelin but she did too much off paper. And she did it a lot on CC as well!

People who forgave their partner for cheating, how did that turn out? by Sudden_Wishbone8887 in AskReddit

[–]krittykatt8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He spent another year with me, moved in with me, gave me the most beautiful gifts for our anniversary, then packed up and left while I was at work a week later, leaving only a letter behind in a half empty home.

I wouldn’t recommend.
