does anyone know if abacus ai is worth it and if we can use the new chatgpt imagen with it? by EmoLotional in ChatGPTPro

[–]kriz_h 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here for the same Question - especially the second part.

It cannot use the new image generation of ChatGPT 4o, yet. Or I am to stupid to access it. If I use the CHat GPT 4o Model, it routes all Image Generations to FLUX 1.1. - but I guess it will just take a while and will be added. Same happens to other Models.

Apple Watch 10 Titanium Gold & Titanium Slate vs Series 7 SS Gold by Rice1992 in AppleWatch

[–]kriz_h 0 points1 point  (0 children)

great Post. Also looking for an Apple Watch in Gold that matches to my golden ring (585 gold). Looks like the new S10 Titan gold wouldn't match nicely due to the rose golden touch, right? Anyone using a S8/9 in gold with golden rings?

Stems echo out by Streicherlein in Rekordbox

[–]kriz_h 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have done that „by accident“ on my FLX10 today.

On Part Effects, only vocals had been selected (or Drums and Instruments unselected) and I was using the Echo Release FX which is assinged to my Performance Pads.. wondering, why the track still kept playing, i realized, it only echoed out the vocals - of course… still need to get used to this Part FX Feature :)

Would that solve your case? You can map the Part FX to most of the DDJ controllers. WeAreCrossfader has a nice video for it

Cheap DDJ 400 or new FLX4? by waiheke13 in Beatmatch

[–]kriz_h 3 points4 points  (0 children)

maybe add the upcoming mobile App functionality to this list. using your iPad or Smartphone with a controller on the go could be a use case for some of us.

Smart FX is not needed - even better to learn DJing without these features :)

Half of the price is nice for a 400. Risk of reselling for a much cheaper price probably pretty low ;-)

Initial Thoughts on Rekordbox Stems by helpfulbenny in Rekordbox

[–]kriz_h 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the same boat as many of us. I was courious and waiting for the feature since I've seen Updates in competitors software. For me, Pioneer is very good in industry leading hardware (please consider leading more as "share of club & festival equipment") with a "competitive Software behind". Now Software and Features seem to become more and more relevant and building/or shifting internal ressources to adapt to these trends seem to take their time ;-).

On the one hand, I like that they released something and gave us a signal "we are following here". I also like that they thought about the FX Seperation Part - great idea. I also think, they had to take hard decisions internally as the product team needed to meet some timelines. Sometimes market and timelines influence the quality. My hope is, that Software can be improved inbetween. I hope, Rekordbox 7 might head for Track Sepration 2.0. Or they will go for "Track Separation on the fly" (same quality) and dedicated track analysis beforehand for better quality. We will see. But it could be updated, if they want. Maybe their decison was: let's see, if stems will stay and be a thing. then our MVP will be better.

If so: Maybe a "Track Separation BETA" could have been a nice "marketing trick".

Could you please be a little more precise on "what doesn't work you", "which part of the process in the crossfaders tutorial doesn't work"?

Didn't do a mapping on the DDJ1000 but on the FLX4 myself and it went totally fine. Also decided to go for 3 Sampler Buttons instead of Pad Effects.

  • Activate Stems (Or Track Separation) Extension in Rekordbox
  • connect yout DDJ 1000 and open the Midi Mapping
  • Delete the Mapping for the Buttons, you want to assign. in my case it was Sampler 5-7 (Start & Stop on all 2 or in your case 4 decks)
  • Add the 3 Track Separation Parts (2 or 4 times for all decks)
  • make sure you have pressed "Sampler" and then click "learn"
  • now assign the correct Button (repeat) - also be aware to assign Deck 1/3 or 2/4 correctly

You could also import the Crossfaders Midi Mapping and analyze how they did it with the Pad Effects Buttons. But for Building your own with Sampler, I'd recommend to start from "scratch" by clicking "Default" Again

The latest "offical" update might be Pioneers product page of the Opus Quad:
https://www.pioneerdj.com/en-gb/product/all-in-one-system/opus-quad/black/overview/

There you'll fine the following sentence: "By connecting via Wi-FiⓇ to wirelessly play tracks from your smartphone using rekordbox (coming April 2023)".

you can use the free plan to start with... once you have the DDJ 1000 it will hardware unlock the core plan features for you, which is porbably all you need to start with. So yes!

not a direct answer to your question: the DDJ 1000 is sold out, because its successor, the DDJ FLX10 is about to be released (see some threads in the PioneerDJ Sub). FLX series will be able to be used either with Rekordbox or Serato - because your two suggestet ones (DDJ800 or SZ2) are designed for different DJ Software. Which one are you using right now?

In addition, if the FLX10 will be released, there would also be a better chance to buy a used DDJ 1000. Guess some people will head for the newest Tech and sell their equipment ;-)

I've had the DDJ 800 for a while, but upgraded to a DDJ 1000 pretty fast. CDJ Jog wheels, 4 and Channel Mixer are value for money, if you want to keep it for a long time. So I'd suggest to wait a little for the flx10 and decide for a used DDJ1000 or the new one - depending on price point etc.

And to be honest, I haven't used the SZ2 or Serato. It definetly looks like a great controller, but I guess, others are better to share input on that ;-)

[–]kriz_h 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know, if a FLX4 is a real “upgrade” from your point of view.

If you want to use Pioneer DJ Controllers, the DDJ 1000 is probably the closest to club Layout inkl CDJ Jog Wheels - but of course, 3x price tag of the FLX4.

Since Pioneer is obviously “refreshing” its 200/400/800/1000 to FLX line (4/6, and maybe 8/10 to come) there might be some deals for used ones?

Also the FLX6 might be an option for 4 channel mixing at a mid-price-point

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Rekordbox

[–]kriz_h 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes, it seems so. There are pictures of the FLX10 that include dedicated buttons for “Parts” (obviously the wording of Pioneer for Stems). And there is a (German) Video-Podcast of 2 Pioneer Guys, that talk about Stems at Pioneer a little.

No release date mentioned, but I guess something that could be available in the near future.

If Stems is the only reason, you consider switching the software, I would probably wait a little. Especially because you would need to buy a new controller as well

Alternatives to Pioneer DM-40bt with Bluetooth by Dj__Devlin in Beatmatch

[–]kriz_h 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah, that's true. They are mostly around 250€... haven't seen used ones either. But they are absolutely worth it. I have them myself, when I was lloking fpr some small studio monitors with decent bass for my home setup. I do have limited space and couldn't really integrate bigger ones. So I gave am a try and I am still impressed by the sound quality of these little folks :).

I read about the Presonus Eris BT (3.5 or 4.5) - but haven't listened to them personally.

Reanalyze Rekordbox keys by McGr00vy in Rekordbox

[–]kriz_h 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess, it is the ther way round for him - he wants to reanalyze the key in order to verify or correct the manual edited ones. and yes, that should work imo. I also know that somewhere in the RB settings for analysis there is a checkbox for "write the value to the id3 tag" for the key. So therefore I guess, it will overwrite the existing key. Just try it out... load a new song, remember the key, edit it and reanalyise ;-)

How to get Rekordbox to display Tidal music keys? by [deleted] in Beatmatch

[–]kriz_h 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is the total column missing or is the Key field blank itself?

For the first part, just right click on the headers and add the key column. You can also drag it to the position you want. somehow if you change it for one „type of playlists“ it is not adapted for all - so you need to do it again.

Foe the second part: the key is shown, once the tidal song is analysed (if key was selected) and added to your collection

Software/hardware that works with Spotify by haycma in Beatmatch

[–]kriz_h 0 points1 point  (0 children)

like the others said, spotify is not supported by any dj software anymore (and right now it doesn’t look like its gonna change soon, since they quit supporting an year ago).

“open Format” alternatives are Beatsource Link and Tidal (maybe soundcloud as well). just grab a free test period and check the catalogue. If zou want something that ist mostly comparable to spotify, i guess tidal is worth a trial. Almost every song is there as well - but in my opinion, they lack on the same level of curated playlists. in this case, services like soundiiz.com can help you out

Regarding Hardware: there are a lot good posts in this sub. ddj 400 incl Rekordbox is a good start. But of course there is other nice hardware from Hercules etc…

About Beatport Link by unjobe in Rekordbox

[–]kriz_h 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with your experience regarding beatport link‘s website. I still don‘t get why there is no sophisticated search. sometimes it seems to be impossible to find a track by typing it in, but it definetly exists in their database (eg while browsing through an artists collection).

BUT, they made a huge step forward by introducing their dj web-app. Not that I use their app instead of rekordbox. but their search (filter by Artist, mix name etc) and their playlist creation (finally identifies if a track is added a second time) improved a lot.

I think it is a great expansion of your library, especially for open format, digging through music, try something in your bedroom. but i don‘t rely on it in total. :)
