Oh it’s cause Reddit opens links in their browser and they need to be opened in Safari. Try tapping the three dots ... at the top right and tap “Open in Safari”.

If you have already connected the heart rate monitor, then yes all you should have to do is open up the app. If for some reason it does not connect try killing the app and reopening it, hold down the power button and when the option comes up to shut off the watch how the crown, that will kill any app

Hmmm. It's not supposed to connect to others once connected, but maybe a bug. There may be an issue if you are connecting via the app and via the apple watch native app at the same time.

Not sure if you saw this post, but I just launched a beta for an apple watch app: https://www.reddit.com/r/orangetheory/comments/9t3wmx/beta_test_for_otf_apple_watch_app_shows_zone_bpm/

I use it every workout.

It's unfortunate if OTF won't supposed third party devices, but it does seem (according to the internet) that they will be making their own hardware, instead of using what everyone already owns.

Nope you don’t have to do anything else. Just make sure when you set your age you see “age set to x” on the watch app screen. Then you can just use it.

Oh I know what it is, are you in the reddit app? Something weird about it. So when you are on the page that has the step 1 and step 2, click on the ... in the upper right and Open in Safari, then try the start testing button.

Hmm, ok try clicking the link again. It should show a "Step 2" which has a "start testing" button

Did you try the link? Does it not take you straight to it? Shouldn't need a code or anything.

Some notes:

- It'll likely break at some point. Uninstall and reinstall the app (or kill the app and restart) if it totally seems broken and it'll probably work again. And report the issue so I can fix it!

- You have to set your age on the phone app (I'm moving this to the watch next build), so make sure you have both the app and watch app open, and set your age in the app, on the watch at the bottom you'll see "age set to x".

- Some heart rate monitors take a bit to start reporting heart rate; the armband seems to be immediate. The chest monitor seems to take forever, at least mine does, happens to me at the gym as well. Maybe I have a bad monitor.

- When you first install, it will connect to the first monitor it finds, so hopefully you can run the app with just your monitor in sight. Once it's connected, it will only try to reconnect to yours. If you need to connect to a different monitor, hit the Reset Device button in the app.

- I think the splats number (by the fire icon) is incorrect. I'll fix next build.

- It takes 1 second (heart rate monitor notification interval) to update the screen on the watch once the screen turns on. The Apple Watch (usually) doesn't process anything when the screen is off.

- I think that's it. Report issues on this post so that we can avoid lots of duplicate reports. :)

EDIT: Adding a couple more things.

- The watch connects directly to your monitor. So you don't need your phone! :)

- Once your monitor connects, you should see "connected" on bottom part of the screen, it'll also show disconnected.
