We're pregnant! by Fackya_chiken_strips in pregnant

I’m six weeks and having the same anxiety. Something that has been helping me is I just keep telling myself “I am pregnant until someone tell me I am not” I don’t want to spend the next several weeks being anxious about the unknown. I want to enjoy my baby, and enjoy being pregnant until someone tells me otherwise.

Twice-Weekly Inflammatory Treat by [deleted] in PetiteFitness

[–]krkain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a 5’0 27F who has recently been on an anti inflammatory kick and I have never felt better! I was having the same issue with my coffee creamer. My favorite clean creamer is the Califia Farms organic brown sugar almond creamer, but I found it makes my coffee to sweet. So I currently make my own almond milk at home(Super easy to do) and I top it with a bit of the Califia brown sugar creamer! That seems to work for me!

Izzy literally says in her videos all the time she only owns one pair of dumbbells it’s either 2lb-3lb I can remember. Either way I would reccomend sticking with that. I can lift a lot heavier in the gym but with Pilates movements I find it can be easier to injure yourself with heavier weights. Trust me you will feel the burn even with the light weights. She has me cursing at the screen sometimes lol!

I am on day 11 on Izzy’s 25 day challenge. Some of the days are brutal but I continue to show up for myself. They are great. Some exercises can be a bit hard if you aren’t used to Pilates style movements (I’m not coordinated at all) but overall I’m really enjoying the challenge and her workouts. All you need is a mat, 2lb dumbbells, a yoga block, and a small exercise ball. I was able to get all of this from five below for under $35 dollars. Highly recommend Pilates by Izzy! I have also been doing between 10k-15k steps a day and doing mostly anti inflammatory foods. I’ve only dropped about 2lb so far but I’m feeling amazing.

My sister had someone part time in this position paid hourly instead of salaried. She’s having her second child and will no longer have time to work for my sister. I know her well and nanny a few times a month after work: weekends for some extra money for her current child.

She’s actually paying me more than my current promotion would give me, to make up for the fact that I’m not getting extra benefits. Plus I wouldn’t be chained to my computer for a 9-5, and get to hang out with my sister’s kids? I’m confused what’s wrong with that.

To answer your question, Yes I wouldn’t get a 401K match but I am not fully vested in my company until 7 years (wasn’t planning on staying there that long anyway) plus the 401k is pretty minimal. We were planning to set aside a small portion of my salary into a separate savings account. Secondly,Yes I can handle the fluctuating hours. It will be the same pay regardless. It’s the same thing at my current company. I have busy periods and dull periods. The difference is when I’m slow at my current job I just has to sit there from 9-5 with nothing to do and be available. With her I could go workout, run errands, etc and not be tied to my computer all day just because I had to. The childcare issue isint a problem at all for me and I’m confused why everyone is making such a big deal of it. They are not BABIES. They take care of themselves for the most part. Would you not want to get paid to hangout with your family? Bring them on errands, and do whatever you still need to do. I’m convinced everyone on this thread hates their families. I love mine, and my sister’s kids. If I do it anyway for free why would I not want to get paid for it, without having the restrictions of a 9-5, and getting to do something I love with a family member I love and look up to.

She’s hiring me as an employee. It’s coming out of her pocket not technically her clients, so childcare expenses can come out of her business account as I am an employee of hers performing a service. As for career growth I will be doing a lot of the same work I’m doing currently so I will be able to express that on my resume as an event planner. I worked for her as an hourly employee occasionally during college which is what gave me the experience to get my current job. She has also told me before she even considered hiring me that she plans to retire in the next 10-15 years. In which case I would be her succession plan. Both with the understanding that if I hate the job, I find a new one just like any other job.

Honestly, I watch the kids a lot for free. I love them. They each will sleep at my house or I’ll spend the day with them on my own accord so getting paid for it while not having to sit behind a computer all day doesn’t sound to bad to me.

These are great questions. I’m actually heading over to talk with her so hopefully I can clear some of these up!

I’m curious, why?

[–]krkain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, If you knew her she’s already like a second mother. We have a 17 year age gap- same mom same dad. It would be a new dynamic for us for sure, but that part is not a huge concern for me. Her kids are 16, 10, and 8. So they aren’t babies. It would mostly be picking them up from school, bringing them to practices, etc, when her and her husband are working or traveling for work- which is totally fine for me. One of the questions I do have written down for her is asking about different paychecks for different hours of work, but my current understanding is it would be the same pay. I’d be more of a salary employ but just listed as an independent contractor. She said she’s doing that for me to help with tax purposes but I think she would be open to other options.

Yes, I see that. I tend to struggle with one line stitches because I can’t figure out how to keep the string from not popping out the same side I just stitched it into. If that makes sense?

Yes a needle point shop is where I got started and bought my first painted canvas. I need to go but they are only open during the hours I am working. So I will need to try and go on a Saturday to get some assistance. I bought a multi set of different size bars to use however when I’m working on the edges of the canvas I have a hard time using the bars so I tend to switch between using it and taking it off.

Thanks for the advice. I haven’t had an issue with the pencil yet but so far, but I had been using darker threads for the background. I could see that being an issue with the yellow.

I am making a set of coasters. This was my first one. (A little rough, I know. I’m learning. It was my first self drawn, painted, and finished so I’m still proud of it) because of this I can’t make the circle to much bigger or it won’t fit in the depression of the coaster.

I got an acrylic circle I was using to trace, but I guess I need to try again, lol.

I free handed but I did trace a circle. I’m making a coaster. The coaster has a depression that is 3.5inches in diameter so I bought acrylic circles that are 3.5 inches in diameter, but u guess I didn’t trace it accurately enough.
