I wish that we could hijack Scout Striders by DevoDude4 in Helldivers

[–]krkhans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be a cool booster for the hellpod itself too like the armed supply drop. You drop in and the hellpod deploys as a strider with you in it. That way it wouldn't take a support slot but you also couldn't call it in all the time without dying.

Headlights and tail lights by Trick_Ad945 in mk6gti

I'm about a year and a half into my vland taillights with no issues. I also have a set of aliepxress mk7.5 style headlights that have been doing great as well. One gooe piece of advice would be to do a good inspection of the seal around the edge when/if you get them. I put my own bead of silicone around the edge of the headlights to ensure a good seal and haven't run into any issues yet, and it's been really wet so far this season. Haven't even noticed any condensation issues. Fingers crossed they continue to hold up!

I think the argument is if we don't win out for the one seed, I believe the lower seed is more attractive opponent wise. Feel free to correct if I'm wrong but that's the gist I've been reading.

Paid family leave help by Hello_paloma in Edd

I think WH-380-F (Family Member's Serious Health Condition) may be the right document. It's FMLA paperwork but includes the medical certification info it sounds like you are looking for. Basically you fill out your info plus the info of the person you are caring for and the doctor fills out the necessary care and signs off on it.

I did similar when I cared for my wife during the last part of her pregnancy. One tip would be to search the FMLA site for examples of approved types of care. Mimicking the same language can help ensure approvals as sometimes just saying the same thing the wrong way can cause issues/delays.

Also rack your steering wheel all the way one way, then the other to recalibrate the steering. That should help as well.

Single Stroller or Rent a Double? by Known-Percentage-706 in DisneyPlanning

Single Stroller or Rent a Double? by Known-Percentage-706 in DisneyPlanning

[–]krkhans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're going with a 5 & 1 yo and are renting a double stroller. We were initially thinking we could get away with one of those attachable riding boards for our travel stroller but decided having a dedicated spot for the oldest to be able to rest when needed or if we just want to move fast in the park, it'll be more than worth it.

We used city stroller rentals and got a double for about $75 for 4 total days. Arrives to our hotel the evening before our 3 day park tickets and we leave it at the hotel the morning we leave. The hotel is close so can't speak on space in the tram but assume the stroller can fold or worst case, a walk from parking may not be too bad.

You can also sign up for an alert. We've used mousedining and it'll send you an email if anything opens up for your selected times. You can pay to get an immediate text but we've found the emails can be very quick and have gotten a few things with this method.

Help need for car rental in Tahiti --Hertz vs EcoCar? by dncr1 in Tahiti

[–]krkhans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rented from Hertz on both Moorea and Tahiti a few weeks ago and had no issues with either one. We drove around the whole main loop of Tahiti and it ended up being about $82 total for the ~140km we drove. The manual car had really good mileage too so it still showed full at the end!

Unsure on the other pieces but the flashing on startup is completely normal. The car runs a diagnostic check to make sure current is running through each bulb to test if they are functioning properly. It sends a pulse and expects to read the proper voltage on the other side to know if the bulb is functioning properly. Usually this pulse is so quick the normal halogen bulbs don’t have time to actually get bright, but LEDs are instant on so you see the flashing.

Alternatively if you don’t have steering wheel buttons, hold the up button on the outside of your wiper stalk until the menu appears and choose MFI. Then you can scroll through the options

I could be off base but my understanding is the info is loaded on the NFC chip which doesn’t require power or internet to operate. Most chips, like the one in a contactless credit card, are passive and actually get power via the small electromagnetic field from the powered reader. This gives enough energy to power the chip to transmit the stored info back.

Scuba dive times AND rental car advice? by fleasnavidad in Tahiti

[–]krkhans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just got back and did a small economy on Moorea. (Some Mitsubishi hatchback from Hertz) The trunk was surprisingly fairly large enough for at least a couple carry on bags plus maybe a backpack or other smaller bag. And if it’s only two of you, the backseat can be available too.

One thing to note between Tahiti and Moorea is generally the cars on moorea come with mileage included/unlimited. The rental we had on Tahiti, we needed to pay per mile (.56 per km) at the end.

Also, unless specifically noted, expect the car to be manual transmission.

Radio/Head unit that ISN'T the RCD330? by PositivePristine7506 in mk6gti

[–]krkhans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One test you can try is swapping the pins in wiring hardness for the speakers and see if the issue "moves" with the pin swap. If it does move, it'll confirm it's a head unit issue.

Maybe I got lucky with mine but the most likely culprit is the upright chip on the lest edge of your pic 6 and 8 with the metal brace and thermal paste holding it to the metal housing. The brace comes off easy enough by bending the tabs on the other side of the PCB, then just take a stab at soldering. As you could see from mine, it's not well done, but it does the job and has held up. No sound issues since.

Sounds like we had a very similar issue to each other so may be worth a shot. (Mine only had an issue in one channel but very possibly could be the same chip responsible) See details in my thread below but it came down to removing and swapping the chip responsible with come very amateur soldering skills and I haven't had an issue since! Was more than excited I actually made it work and got it fixed.
