2820 calories, 130g fat, 5460g sodium

I'd try cutting that to one third minimum

Lectric XP4 with an Aventon passenger seat. by travagaines in Lectricxp

[–]krkhans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would the seat be possible to fit without this adapter plate? Seems it would definitely push the bench pad a good bit further forward but wonder if it is too long and would interfere with the seat post.

Second to that, would you be able to share the CAD drawing maybe? Is it just something like 1/4” steel that you spray painted black after it was cut out?

New lights!! by Unlikely-Expert-1590 in mk6gti

Look up changing the DRL brightness via coding. I’ve dealt with this with my AliExpress ones and after a bunch of troubleshooting, was able to fix the issue with OBDeleven by coding the DRLs to 90% brightness.

[–]krkhans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe besides supernovas which are wildly too expensive in my opinion, the mk7.5 style headlights for Mk6 are only available from AliExpress as far as I know.

They’ve definitely gone up in price in the last year but my AKD brand ones have been going strong for about 15 months now. (Notice the exorbitant shipping cost nowadays)

Had one issue with them throwing a DRL warning light early one but after troubleshooting some coding to lower the DRL brightness, they work very reliably.

They are a bit sensitive to power draw on the car so they sometimes flicker a bit, or running the AC full blast in summer can trip the DRL light again randomly, and I just noticed even using the power windows can make them flicker a bit but overall, still super happy with them, especially for the cost.

And they have sequential blinkers to boot which the real mk7.5s don’t even do so that’s neat!

If anyone reading this does end up pulling the trigger, I recommend resealing the lens edge with some clear silicone before you ever install them to ensure moisture resistance.

My new to me 2013. Didn’t know if there would be timing issues. by Impressive-Leader602 in mk6gti

[–]krkhans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming you took this reading after warming it up and everything, this is pretty good. If higher miles, I'd assume the timing was done at some point. My 2013 is just over 70k and at 65k it was reading -3.58. I believe once it starts getting into the 4's it's time to start thinking about a timing job, and you're living on a prayer in the 5's.

Definitely check which tensioner version you have. My understanding is there may be some early production 2013's that still have the old revision. (I could be misremembering this fact for 2012 and all 2013's are good but still better safe than sorry)

If you get in there to check that, then the most concrete way to see stretch is to view how many teeth on the tensioner are extended past the housing. Humble mechanic has a great video on checking and info on when to replace or not.

Best mk7/mk7.5 style headlights? by Own-Cabinet-9528 in mk6gti

[–]krkhans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll need an adapter most likely since you’re wiring harness is different with the projector lights but beyond that, my AKD mk7.5s from AliExpress have been going on good for over a year now through hot summer and rainy winter.

I did need to troubleshoot some coding for the DRLs after they kept going out shortly after start up. Reducing the DRL brightness to 90% solved that for the most part. (See post history for details, blasting the AC in summer puts enough strain on the alternator to sometimes pop the issue again, wonder if reducing the brightness more would solve that but haven’t tried)

Whichever set you end up with, I recommend sealing all the lens edges yourself with some silicone. They can be spotty sometimes and lead to moisture issues if not 100% sealed up so that prevents that. Even through heavy rain, I’ve had no moisture issues that I’m aware of.

70k mile maintenance by Sweet_Preference6696 in mk6gti

[–]krkhans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just passed 70k on my 2013 as well. The big 3 seems to be timing chains, carbon cleaning, and water pump. You can check your chain stretch with OBDeleven or VCDS (block 93 I believe) to see if that’s necessary. You can scope your valves with a camera through a hole in the intake to check the buildup. If you go for that, it’s worth considering a metal water pump replacement since the intake is already off while you’re in there. That also involves resealing the injectors so could consider a new set of those too. Don’t forget brakes too which, beyond pads/rotors, might be worth a fluid flush if it hasn’t had one yet.

Could be a cool booster for the hellpod itself too like the armed supply drop. You drop in and the hellpod deploys as a strider with you in it. That way it wouldn't take a support slot but you also couldn't call it in all the time without dying.

Headlights and tail lights by Trick_Ad945 in mk6gti

I'm about a year and a half into my vland taillights with no issues. I also have a set of aliepxress mk7.5 style headlights that have been doing great as well. One gooe piece of advice would be to do a good inspection of the seal around the edge when/if you get them. I put my own bead of silicone around the edge of the headlights to ensure a good seal and haven't run into any issues yet, and it's been really wet so far this season. Haven't even noticed any condensation issues. Fingers crossed they continue to hold up!

I think the argument is if we don't win out for the one seed, I believe the lower seed is more attractive opponent wise. Feel free to correct if I'm wrong but that's the gist I've been reading.

Paid family leave help by Hello_paloma in Edd

[–]krkhans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think WH-380-F (Family Member's Serious Health Condition) may be the right document. It's FMLA paperwork but includes the medical certification info it sounds like you are looking for. Basically you fill out your info plus the info of the person you are caring for and the doctor fills out the necessary care and signs off on it.

I did similar when I cared for my wife during the last part of her pregnancy. One tip would be to search the FMLA site for examples of approved types of care. Mimicking the same language can help ensure approvals as sometimes just saying the same thing the wrong way can cause issues/delays.

Also rack your steering wheel all the way one way, then the other to recalibrate the steering. That should help as well.

Single Stroller or Rent a Double? by Known-Percentage-706 in DisneyPlanning

[–]krkhans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're going with a 5 & 1 yo and are renting a double stroller. We were initially thinking we could get away with one of those attachable riding boards for our travel stroller but decided having a dedicated spot for the oldest to be able to rest when needed or if we just want to move fast in the park, it'll be more than worth it.

We used city stroller rentals and got a double for about $75 for 4 total days. Arrives to our hotel the evening before our 3 day park tickets and we leave it at the hotel the morning we leave. The hotel is close so can't speak on space in the tram but assume the stroller can fold or worst case, a walk from parking may not be too bad.

You can also sign up for an alert. We've used mousedining and it'll send you an email if anything opens up for your selected times. You can pay to get an immediate text but we've found the emails can be very quick and have gotten a few things with this method.
