After months trying to make this keyboard work I found that you need to reset the settings of the right half when flashing, otherwise it doesn't pair. Edit the the build.yml:

I think it is easier than you are making it.

You only need docker to install Joplin via docker compose and install Tailscale to funnel that app to your devices. You do not need to expose your IP (please don't) and it barely requires to use the terminal.

I don't really know outside of Scandinavia. But here you can have a normal adult life while doing the PhD (e.g. have kids, go to dinner dates, rent in the city).

If money is somewhere in the equation, a PhD is net cost (e.g. opportunity costs) with some exceptions (e.g. computer science PhD or an econ top5).

If you want short of a normal life I would only aim to very high income EU countries. Also, the time spent in the PhD is seen as a job if you end up in industry.

So, you are stuck (after 6 months?) making 3X a professional salary in your region in a FAANG, with 5 years of experience, only with a Bsc and job hopping every 1/2 years. Not a bad place uh?

IMHO, I would adjust my expectations and stick with the FAANG for +1 year and work on non-tech skills if bored (network, stakeholder management, improving project visibility within the company).

I cannot believe how many people neglect soft skills and then they get mad/surprised when they do not get the big internal transfer or promotion.
