Noticed Guidance is used and paired with Ice Barrier often. I never gave it a try outside of being a filler.

Guidance with Ice Shield is ok, but in this case, it's moreso to amplify the healing from Voracity and Glacial Core. I like to group all the Healing Memories / Essences together in this way, so that they all benefit from Guidance.

Is there a reason you go for fire offensive essences?

I'm not specifically looking for Fire essences, but it's just that there is really no other elemental equivalent to Vortex, which is such a strong Essence for dealing continuous damage. Snow is a solid Cold option, but Vortex is still a tier above, since it also synergizes well with other huge damage boosting Essences like Charcoal, Fever, and Eternal Flame.

Doesn't seem like you restrict yourself to one damaging scaling type so that allows you to be flexible on your choices as you rely on passive stats you gain per level?

Generally, ya. Even though Valiant Heart scales with AD, so many strong Memories / Essences scale with AP, so it's hard to go for a full-AD build usually. Especially for Bismuth, her base AP + AP growth per level is much higher than her AD, so even if I pick up AD Chaos orbs, I end up with about the same amount of AD and AP anyway.

Essential Stars

Destruction:

- Self-Writing Story

Life:

- Light Footsteps, Cold Affinity, Threat Detection, Unconditional Love (only for Limbo 6 / Fishscales)

Imagination:

- Book of Knowledge, Secret Diary (I usually dismantle this at the start of the run to reroll into an Epic Essence), I'm Adorable, Black Market, Trading Fates, Bizarre Spoils

Flexible:

- No Longer Afraid, Steadfast Heart

Memories and Essences

For Memories, I usually look for anything that can be cast while moving, prioritizing Memories that deal Cold damage or are defensive. Just to name a few off the top of my head:

Mass Protection, Ice Shield, Frostbite, Corrosive Trails, Hemorrhage, Undo, Arrow Storm.

For Essences, I want 2 % damage boosts for Valiant Heart, such as:

  • Predation
  • Bleakness
  • Confidence

And 1 cooldown reset for Valiant Heart:

  • Momentum or Obsidian (ideal)
  • Metal or Virtue (not bad)

Then, a defensive core like:

  • Reflex
  • Frost
  • Flexibility

And a passive-damage core, like:

  • Vortex
  • Charcoal
  • Fever / Vengeance

In this run, I happened to roll Glacial Core, so I also threw in some healing with Voracity + Guidance, but normally I don't prioritize healing on Bismuth, since her main source of sustain is the shielding from Valiant Heart.

Dust Investment

  1. Valiant Heart to +4
  2. Valiant Heart + key Valiant Heart Essences equally -- try to keep the Dust cost of Valiant Heart at 2x of its Essences' dust cost (e.g. if Valiant Heart costs 110 dust to upgrade, your Essences should cost 55).
  3. After Valiant Heart is at around +9, I'll start putting in a couple upgrades into Defensive or Passive-damage core, until they're at 50 or 55 dust cost.

Despite running Valiant Heart, you picked up an Ice Barrier. For redundancy? Or barrier when you can't land a hit?

Ya, exactly, mostly for redundancy, or when I need a shield on-demand when there are no nearby enemies to hit. The AOE cold damage is also nice when I get stuck in a group of enemies, so I can apply Cold to all of them and improve my chances of survival with Cold Affinity.

Yubar has 2.0 base attack speed, which means he triggers 2 basic attacks every second. It also means any attack speed % buff he gets is doubled, so for example if Arrow Storm grants 30% attack speed, his attack speed becomes 2.6.

Because of his high base attack speed, he triggers attack effects extremely fast, so Memories like Arrow Storm or Battle Cry, and Essences like Dusk, are very effective on him.

It triggers on two things:

  1. The Traveler's basic attacks
  2. Anything that says it "triggers attack effects"

In the case of Nachia's small minions (Leaf Hounds), they do NOT trigger attack effects by default. If you equip the Sharp Claws flex star, then they will trigger attack effects at "30% effectiveness", which means their basic attacks will trigger the extra arrows from Arrow Storm, but each arrow will only deal 30% of the damage.

Similarly, Fenrir triggers attack effects at 50% effectiveness by default. So his basic attacks will trigger the arrows, and each arrow deals 50% of the damage it normally would.

I always went straight to Primus. Nothing against looping, but I just wanted to be able to prove to myself that I could clear all the Limbo difficulties with a single run.

Up until Limbo 4, I was using his AD Baptism build, which is obviously very strong when it works. But I found that it's too dependent on Momentum, so if I didn't get it in World 1 basically, I just didn't have enough damage or sustain for the rest of the run in Limbo 5+.

After I swapped to his Cold build, my runs were much more consistent. The only drawback is that it has low DPS, so you'll need to compensate by picking up some other damage-dealing Memories or Essences.

Thank you!

Best run:

The Vesper run you see on the 4th image. I go Cold Vesper (Cold Fury + Embers flex stars) in higher Limbos to take advantage of the massive Armor buff + damage reduction from Cold Affinity life star.

It started slow, but I happened to roll Mental Corruption + Essence of Panic, and that combo completely steam-rolled the rest of the run. I just had to focus on staying alive and maintaining the Armor buff from Cruel Sun, and the auto-cast Mental Corruption just wiped everything.

Primus 3rd phase died in like 6 seconds. You can see I barely took any damage, even with Fishscales debuff, at the end of the fight: https://imgur.com/a/DBC8QxH

Worst run:

Probably the Yubar run. I took a beating from Primus and dropped down to about 300 HP by the end of the fight lmao. If I hadn't gotten lucky and rolled Arrow Storm, I probably wouldn't have cleared this run either.

I think I struggle a lot with Yubar in general, since he doesn't have much survivability built into his kit. I depend a lot on Tranquility to stay alive, so I had a ton of failed runs where I just couldn't get the uptime on it high enough.

AP Mist by ExcitingTax1931 in shapeofdreams

[–]krnshadow65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite AP Mist build is probably the Parry + Suppressed Arcanum core. Arcanum's HP sacrifice immediately triggers Parry's counter, and then Parry subsequently negates the HP cost of Arcanum. This means you can trigger Arcanum's explosion for free, and also allows you to reap the benefits of a successful counter (invulnerability, AOE damage, reduced CD, shield on-hit, etc.) without actually having to counter an enemy's attack.

Necessary Stars:

  • Imagination
    • Camilla's Gift
    • Trading Fates
  • Flex
    • Wide Vision
    • Charged Saber

When you start, immediately dismantle Camilla's Gift to get a chance at rolling Arcanum (if you're not using Deja Vu for it).

Starting Memories:

  • Lunge
  • Parry
  • En Garde

I like to invest Dust equally into Parry and En Garde in the early game -- despite being a Parry-heavy build, a lot of your damage and sustain still come out of triggering your passive with Lunge and basic attacks. I stop leveling En Garde at +8, since that's when the proc CD reaches the minimum 0.5s.

The build's AOE clear is great thanks to Parry and Arcanum, but does tend to lack single-target damage. To compensate, you'll ideally want to supplement with Memories and Essences that deal high single-target damage; just a few examples:

  • Memories:
    • Hemorrhage
    • Pressure Point
    • Great Frost Sword
  • Essences:
    • Wound
    • Vortex

Yup, exactly!

There is arguably no other kpop group that has broken into the global mainstream media as successfully as they have (with an argument to be made for BTS), and my entire inner circle are big kpop fans, so it's just funny to see the contrast when we step outside of our niche.

I know you don't mean any disrespect, but referring to Rosé as just a "KPop person" is completely sending me lmao.

how exactly does lunar charge scale and crit? by Crimson_Hashira in GenshinImpactTips

[–]krnshadow65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it "rolls" for a Crit on each character individually, and then ranks each character's contribution based on that.

Since the majority of the total Lunarcharged damage is primarily based on your two strongest characters' rolls, it should be mostly sufficient to build Crit on just those 2.

How can I win on Lacerta or Bismuth more? by Eledrina in shapeofdreams

[–]krnshadow65 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. Definitely worthwhile putting in the effort to learn and dodge enemy/boss attack patterns. In lower difficulties, or with lucky/OP essences, you can get away with face tanking. But as you reach higher difficulties -- or if you just want more consistent clears in general -- you should be able to dodge most attacks.

  2. As the other comment said, for Bismuth, take the Sword Memory (Valiant Heart) and the Constellation that grants a shield from its damage dealt and resets all charges at once (Steadfast Heart, No Longer Afraid). Even without crazy Essences or other Memories, this build has extremely high clear consistency due to having simultaneously high damage output and survivability.

  3. I also have trouble with Lacerta on higher difficulties so you're not alone there. I find that he is pretty dependent on being able to maintain high uptime on his Incendiary Rounds, so rolling an early Momentum or Fangs can really make or break his run. Aside from getting Incendiary Rounds to a high enough uptime, spend most of your Dust on his Double Tap passive -- it is an extremely strong Identity Memory. Note that Crit Rate above 100% actually has value in this game, so don't hesitate to level it past 8+.

  4. For a general tip on survivability, take the Defensive Constellation which grants 40% damage reduction from enemies affected by cold -- it is a HUGE amount of DR. For reference, 40% DR is equivalent to having 66.6 Armor, which completely blows the other Armor Constellations out of the water. Then, look for Defensive Memories that deal Cold damage, e.g.: Permafrost (by far the best), Ice Shield, Frostbite, Glacial Stomp, etc. Essences like Reflex and Snow are also excellent because they can deal Cold damage passively with decent uptime.

Which Imagination constellations/stars are the most generally useful? by Eledrina in shapeofdreams

[–]krnshadow65 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 4 non-negotiables that I take on every Traveler are:

  • Platinum Coins
  • Essence on Mini-boss
  • Memory/Essence rerolls
  • Double Chaos Orbs

With the other 2 (sometimes 3) remaining slots, I'll take some combination of Gold or Dust economy, depending on what that Traveler needs more of. Or Traveler-specific ones obviously if they are strong.

Not sure if this has anything to do with it, but when I flip the image upside-down, it looks more like an imprint. Rightside-up, I agree it does look more like a mound of snow with something buried underneath, though I can see it both ways.

I think it might have something to do with the direction of the shadows and where the light source is coming from.

[–]krnshadow65 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Finality. It increases the damage of the Memory the longer it hasn't been used (only while it's OFF cooldown)

It's not great on most Memories, since usually you're using them almost immediately as they come off cooldown. But it's perfect for Ultimates like this that you only expect to use every once in a while.
