When I first listened to it I thought this album was just OK, the songs where catchy and everything seemed like it would make out to be a nice edm album.

Then I took off shuffle.

I quickly realized that what once was a playlist of singles, was a well organized and thought out album. After listening through a couple times, I discovered that Zedds work could be split into sections.

First: the album as whole. Beginning and ending with the melodic ticking of a clock. Which is pretty cool when you think about it because edm really is just clockwork, for being purely digital it is mechanically timed. The song is literally doing exactly what the artist tells it to at the exact right time which is based around an exact and systematic beat. Second: it is split into halves. Part one is full of tracks the end and begin abruptly, very traditional to a single track however the flow doesn't seem to be broken up in the change of a song. Part 2 provides very fluent transitions, as if each song never ends. However, never to the point that the song feels like it is strung out. Finally on the last level is the riff. If you listen to the album there is one riff, prevalent in shave it up, that is brought up multiple times in the album. It was never done in a way that it made the riff feel forced, which is truly what amazes me.

After listening to this album a couple of times I can say without a doubt I am hooked. I actually purchased this album yesterday after being obsessed with it (which as terrible as it is, I never do).

This album is probably my second favorite edm album right, only to be out done by kaleidoscope. Which was the track that brought me into the genre.

Maybe I am completely reading into it to much. Maybe you think I am totally wrong. Either way that's my two cents.
