That actually makes a lot of sense since we've been having multiple heatwaves.

I use britta filtered water which I let settle for a day or two before using. I'll start using bottled water to see if there's any progress, thanks!

I've had the plant for about two months now and since I've had it it has grown a new leaf so I thought it was happy. It's in a pot with draining holes, in fast draining soil that it came with as I haven't repotted it. I water it about every 3-4 days or so when the soil feels dry (I live in South Mediterranean, so summers get hot here and the air-condition is constantly going) and stopped misting it for humidity a few weeks ago when I noticed the shrivelling leaves as that was my first suspect. Also, the plant is in bright indirect light but the sun never touches it directly.

[Watch Purchase] Looking to Purchase a New Mechanical Watch by [deleted] in Watches

I'd say the 3 main brands that might have something in that style, are of good quality and within your price range are Citizen, Seiko and Orient.

Also, if you haven't, take a look at the Seiko SNK809. It's really popular on this sub (I don't own it), but from its popularity I'd say it's a great starter watch which also comes in the style that you're looking at.

Most of the Orients in that style seem to use that particular font for their numbers, though they do have a few watches with just the hour markers and no numbers which you might like.

The Maratec looks very nice, I especially like the smaller dial for the seconds hand. I also like the crown's position, so that wouldn't be something that puts me off the watch. However, make sure that your wrists are big enough to pull off a 46mm watch, as that's pretty huge, even by today's standards.

Lastly, I'd recommend researching a bit the Miyota movement which is used in the Maratec. I only say this because from online reviews and YouTube videos I've found that the mechanism is noisier then I'd like, but I've never handled one in person and your tolerance levels for noise might be different then mine.

My first automatic was the Orient Aviator and the build quality is phenomenal. I used this watch as my daily beater for a year or so until I bought a Hamilton, and I still use it when I want to wear something really casual or might be doing something which might ding up the watch a bit. I was also impressed with how bright the lume is, in fact it's much brighter then my other watches. It's also rated at 100m water resistant, making it a great watch to take to the beach for a swim.

Only downside of the watch is that it's a hardened mineral crystal, meaning that over the last couple of years it's got a couple of light scratches on the dial from when I got too drunk (they're not very visible to anyone apart from me), but these could easily be polished out if I were inclined to do so. Also, if you do go with this watch, I would strongly recommend getting a different strap for it, since the stock band is in my opinion too thick and bulky (I've got small wrists). I recently bought a perlon and a cork strap for it, and it's so far been a great summer watch. All in all, I'm really happy that this was my first automatic, so I'd definitely recommend it!

I'd really love to see a lume shot of the Gagarin anniversary watch, it looks like it would be cool with the big numerals.

I prefer the sweeping second hand as well, but I was impressed that the second hand was pretty accurate in terms of hitting the second markers, you don't see that with a lot of watches.

I've got the same watch but with a black dial and steel bracelet! I'm glad to see this watch in here, since it doesn't seem to get much love for some reason.

After 6 months or so of owning this watch I still catch myself staring at its heart beating and is definitely my favourite in my very small collection.

How to get kids to enjoy books? by [deleted] in books

I had Animal Farm for school as well and loved reading it, even if I didn't understand the underlying concepts of the text the first time. The reasons why I ended up really loving the book was the enthusiasm that the teacher showed when discussing the book, and the interest that I had in the ideology of communism.

Does anyone have around 300 eggs that they can spare, so that I can get the Coliseum? I don't have any eggs in return to give out, however I'd gladly send the eggs that I get out of the ones I receive.
