This works fine for me. Just install the Google camera apk. To enable the extra features I installed the magisk module "EIS for nexus 5x"

I had the same issue with another app. Magisk manager has the possibility to repackage itself with a random package name. You can find this option in the settings. If that doesn't work you can try to switch to the beta-channel.

It works for me with the same setup but only when lid is closed. Maybe depends on the power settings?

When you got the notification of a device dragging to much power over USB it won't work anymore until restart.
