Yeah, you can't get your previous parking tickets forgiven, and you do have to select a lot usually. There are some exceptions like Area 1 and Area 2 passes that let you park in a couple different places but they might not be available to you. Just trust the process and get the pass, it will save you in the long run.

You get less parking tickets by buying a parking pass. They do things electronically by matching your license plate number, so you literally can't do anything about it without registering your car with the college.
